On the eve of the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, the all-new electric long-wheelbase CLA, based on Mercedes-Benz's MMA electric platform, made its global debut. It is worth noting that this model is produced locally in China.

As the first long-wheelbase CLA model to be produced in China, its wheelbase is increased by 40 millimeters compared to the overseas standard version, reaching 2,830 millimeters. The vehicle's dimensions are 4,763 millimeters in length, 1,856 millimeters in width, and 1,469 millimeters in height. The rear passenger space has been significantly improved.

The new car features a closed grille design, with 142 LED lights around the grille that can light up independently, just like the brand logo. The headlights have a star-shaped design. The fastback design and flush door handles reduce the vehicle's drag coefficient to 0.21.

The rear of the car continues the design style of the front, the full-width taillight cluster features a three-pointed star motif in its lighting elements.

The interior features a triple-screen design, consisting of a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch center console screen, and a 14-inch passenger entertainment screen. The car is equipped with the latest MB.OS operating system and integrates Douyin AI.

Additionally, a 12.2-inch HUD head-up display can be optionally installed, allowing drivers to view information directly on the windshield while driving.

The trunk has a capacity of 405 liters, and there is an additional 101-liter storage space in the front trunk. The seats can be folded in a 4/2/4 configuration, making it easier to carry long items without having to fold the entire rear seat.

In terms of intelligent driving, the new CLA is equipped with the latest MB.DRIVE system, which uses the NVIDIA Orin chip for autonomous driving. The intelligent driving assistance system supports narrow street U-turns and is technologically supported by the Chinese driving assistance supplier Momenta.

For power, the new car features an 800V electrical architecture with a silicon carbide (SiC) inverter, and it is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. The CLA 250+L rear-wheel drive model has a maximum power output of 200 kilowatts and a peak torque of 335 newton-meters.

The CLA 300 L 4MATIC all-wheel drive model features dual motors at the front and rear, with a combined output power of 260 kilowatts and a combined torque of 515 newton-meters. It also offers a disconnectable all-wheel drive unit (DCU).

In terms of range, the vehicle is equipped with an 85kWh ternary lithium battery. The official data shows a CLTC range of 866 kilometers and a power consumption of 10.9kWh per 100 kilometers. This range is still highly competitive in China's market in 2025. Many domestic new force models with similar prices have a standard range of only 600-700 kilometers.

At a constant speed of 120 kilometers per hour, it can achieve an actual range of 572 kilometers. Additionally, the vehicle supports 325kW ultra-fast charging technology, allowing it to add 325 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes of charging.

Although we can't experience this car at the moment, judging from these configurations alone, Mercedes-Benz has invested a great deal of technology into this electric CLA. Even facing the fiercely competitive Chinese market, I believe this car still has its unique competitiveness.
