Fuel Tank Reigns Supreme? XPeng X9 Range-Extended Model Spotted at Gas Station

Today, a netizen captured photos of a XPeng X9 range-extended version refueling at a gas station. The images show that the fuel filler flap of the X9 range-extended version is located on the left side of the vehicle, while the charging port is on the right side.

According to previous plans, XPeng's first range-extended model, the G01, is scheduled for release in November. Therefore, the X9 range-extended version is expected to be launched by the end of this year or early next year.

X9 Range-Extended Version Refueling

In November last year, XPeng introduced the "Kun" Super Range-Extended System, which offers a pure electric range of 430 km and a combined range of 1,400 km. The system also features 5C fast charging, capable of charging up to 80% in just 12 minutes.

Notably, in March of this year, an insider reported to 36Kr that XPeng has planned at least five range-extended models. The first range-extended model will be based on the X9 and is expected to enter mass production in the second half of this year.

Platforms such as E, F, and H will also have range-extended variants, scheduled for release in the coming years. In the future, the majority of XPeng's new models will adopt a dual-powertrain approach, combining range extension and pure electric options.

Chen Yonghai Responded to Range-Extended Model Plans

This report was addressed by Chen Yonghai, Vice President of XPeng Motors. Chen stated that not all of XPeng's current pure electric models will have range-extended versions. The company will consider factors such as domestic and international markets, vehicle sizes (large and small), types (sedans and SUVs), and diverse user scenarios.

This afternoon, the 2025 model of the XPeng X9 officially opened for pre-sale with a pre-sale price of 399,800 RMB. As a reference, the introduction of the range-extended variant is expected to further lower the entry threshold for the X9 model.
