According to the declaration information, the Li Auto i8 has a body size of 5085/1960/1740 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 3050 mm. It offers two optional wheel sizes: 20 inches and 21 inches. The vehicle features a six - seat layout, targeting the needs of family users.

The Li Auto i8 adopts the family design language of Li Auto's pure electric vehicles, integrating the design language of MEGA with the practical elements of the L series, including the three-dimensional engine hood lines and split headlights. The fastback design further optimizes the drag coefficient.

In terms of power, the i8 is equipped with a dual - motor intelligent four - wheel - drive system (front motor power of 150 kW + rear motor power of 250 kW), with a total system power of 400 kW. It also features a 5C ternary lithium - ion battery that supports ultra - fast charging technology.

Regarding intelligent features, the Li Auto i8 is equipped with a customized Hesai ATL lidar across the entire series. The lidar is smaller in volume, lighter in weight, and has stronger detection capabilities. It supports automatic emergency braking (AEB) and automatic emergency steering (AES).

The main competitors of the Li Auto i8 include high - end pure electric SUVs such as the Tesla Model X and the NIO ES8. Li Auto hopes to attract family users with a larger space and a lower price (expected to be 20 - 30% lower than the Model X).

However, the Li Auto i8 still faces many challenges.

MEGA was launched in a hurry before the Li Auto super - charging network was fully rolled out, resulting in mediocre sales. Now that Li Auto's super - charging stations have just exceeded 2,000, although the company promises to build 2,500 by the time the i8 is released, it remains to be seen whether this will boost pure - electric sales.

After all, high - end pure electric vehicles are not having an easy time. Even the AITO M9, backed by Huawei, sells best in its extended - range version.

Li Auto has always relied on extended - range vehicles to get started. The L series just completed the delivery of 1 million vehicles in April. Now, with the launch of a pure - electric model, it is a considerable challenge to persuade these users, who are accustomed to extended - range vehicles, to switch. The i8 is expected to be unveiled in July. It will be interesting to see whether Li Auto can effectively communicate the advantages of its pure - electric vehicles.
