The China-exclusive model will be unveiled by the end of 2025 and enter production domestically in 2026.
On September 5, the new BMW iX3 made its global debut in Munich.
As the first mass-produced model based on BMW’s “Neue Klasse” platform, the vehicle fully moves beyond the controversy of being an “oil-to-electric” conversion. It is built on a new dedicated pure electric platform (NCAR) and integrates multiple cutting-edge technology clusters, including a new intelligent electronic architecture, a panoramic iDisplay system, a super driving control brain, and large cylindrical batteries.

Exterior-wise, the new BMW iX3 continues the design language of the Vision Neue Klasse X concept. The headlight unit revives the concept car’s flattened “Angel Eye” design, while the illuminated vertical kidney grille complements the 3D taillights.
In terms of dimensions, the new model measures 4780/1895/1635 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2895 mm. For the future domestic version, the wheelbase is expected to be extended by 100 mm to enhance rear seating space, and the rear seat cushions will also be correspondingly lengthened.

The interior’s most standout feature is the world’s first “Panoramic iDrive Head-Up Display System.” This ultra-short-throw projection technology projects a 40-inch, 4K-resolution AR interface directly onto the windshield, with a contrast ratio as high as 100,000:1.
Additionally, the central control screen adopts an irregular design, and the operating system is the new-generation OS X. The irregular design aims to better assist the driver with information.

The new iX3 will debut with the 50 xDrive version, featuring a four-wheel drive combination of a front asynchronous motor and a rear separately excited synchronous motor. Maximum output power reaches 345 kW, with a peak torque of 645 N·m. The official 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 4.9 seconds, and the top speed is 210 km/h. The vehicle is built on an 800V platform, equipped with a 108 kWh large cylindrical battery. It offers a WLTP range of 805 km and a CLTC range of 920 km, with an energy consumption of 15.1 kWh/100 km.
Other features include the application of BMW’s Driving Control Super Brain (Heart of Joy) and the BMW Dynamic Performance Control system, which efficiently integrate electronic controls across multiple dimensions of the vehicle. This reduces the response delay of the powertrain and driving dynamics functions to less than 1 millisecond.

It is reported that the China-exclusive model will be unveiled by the end of 2025 and enter production domestically in 2026.
According to the plan, the groundbreaking innovations of the new generation will be incorporated into all future BMW models, covering various drivetrain types and all market segments. Starting with the new iX3, BMW will launch over 40 new models globally by 2027. In the Chinese market, BMW plans to introduce more than 20 new BMW models between 2026 and 2027.
