Beijing Hyundai has released official interior images of the ELEXIO, its upcoming all-electric SUV featuring a dedicated EV platform and intelligent technology, with a market launch expected in September.
On July 8, Beijing Hyundai Motor Co. (Beijing Hyundai) released official interior images of its all-new ELEXIO, the company’s first electric SUV based on the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).
The preview reveals a clean, horizontal dashboard layout, anchored by a 27-inch integrated dual display that spans the center console and front passenger area, offering both infotainment and entertainment functions. The setup is complemented by a head-up display (HUD) system and a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, emphasizing an immersive, user-first interface.

In line with its EV platform, the ELEXIO eliminates the traditional gear shifter, replacing it with paddle shifters behind the steering wheel for regenerative braking control. It is expected to support both one-pedal driving and AUTO regenerative modes, enhancing energy recovery and driving efficiency. Inside, the cabin offers 29 storage compartments, including a sliding privacy box and bi-directional expandable cup holders, tailored to boost everyday convenience and flexibility.

The ELEXIO was added to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s (MIIT) new vehicle catalog in June 2024. Regulatory filings show dimensions of 4,615 mm (L) × 1,875 mm (W) × 1,675/1,698 mm (H), with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm.
Visually, the ELEXIO features a closed front grille paired with a halo-style LED light bar, giving the front fascia a high-tech, recognizable aesthetic. Its profile is accentuated by flush door handles and a sculpted D-pillar, delivering a sleek and cohesive side silhouette. At the rear, a full-width taillight design echoes the front-end styling, while a large roof spoiler adds a sporty touch and aerodynamic performance.

Under the hood, the ELEXIO is equipped with a 160 kW electric motor, powered by a battery pack supplied by FinDreams Battery (a BYD subsidiary). According to Beijing Hyundai, the ELEXIO will receive upgrades in 2025 to support automatic driver assistance and memory parking, with L2+ urban driving assistance expected in 2026—further enhancing the vehicle’s smart driving capabilities.
Positioned as a compact electric SUV, the ELEXIO will compete directly with popular models such as the BYD Yuan Plus, Volkswagen ID.3, and Lynk & Co Z20. If priced competitively against mainstream domestic EVs, it could emerge as a dark horse contender in the joint-venture electric vehicle market.
