Under the MoU, the parties will jointly develop electric vehicles based on Times Intelligent’s integrated intelligent chassis platform.
On January 26, Times Intelligent, a subsidiary of CATL, announced that it has signed a strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding in Jakarta with Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) and other partners.

Under the MoU, the parties will jointly develop electric vehicles based on Times Intelligent’s integrated intelligent chassis platform.
The platform integrates core systems including the battery, electric drive, thermal management and chassis domain controller, providing a highly integrated technical foundation for vehicle development.
IBC and other Indonesian partners will be responsible for localized vehicle development, manufacturing and operations, with the goal of achieving genuinely localized production and commercialization in Indonesia.

Times Intelligent, CATL’s dedicated entity for its “bedrock chassis” business, was established in 2021 with a registered capital of RMB 250 million (about $34.7 million).
The company focuses on providing battery-centric bedrock chassis products and technology services.
Its core product, the CIIC (CATL Integrated Intelligent Chassis), was launched in late 2024.
The chassis adopts Cell-to-Chassis technology, and the Pro version is designed to withstand a 120 km/h frontal pole impact without fire or explosion, highlighting its emphasis on safety.
Times Intelligent CEO Yang Hanbing has said the bedrock chassis solution can help automakers reduce development costs by around 60%–70%, while overall vehicle bill-of-materials costs could fall by about 5%.

To date, Times Intelligent has secured partnerships with several Chinese automakers including Avatr, BAIC and JAC, with related models expected to be rolled out between 2026 and 2027.
The company has also expanded its bedrock chassis business into Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe, forming cooperation agreements with multiple overseas partners.
Chassis technology is increasingly becoming a new focal point of competition between automakers and suppliers.
NIO is advancing a fully in-house developed Intelligent Chassis Controller (ICC), while BYD is strengthening battery–body integration through its Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology.
