The XPeng GX is expected to offer both extended-range and pure electric powertrains. Upon launch, it will compete with models like the Nio ES8, Li L8, ONVO L90, and AITO M8.
XPeng CEO He Xiaopeng officially announced the debut of the company’s first flagship large six-seat SUV—the XPeng GX (internal codename G01). The letter “X” in the model name stands for “eXploration.”
Positioned as an “AI New Luxury” flagship model, the XPeng GX is built on the all-new SEPA 3.0 “Physical AI” vehicle architecture. He Xiaopeng emphasized that the new model will inherit the highly acclaimed genes of “spacious comfort” and “flexible drivability” from the XPeng X9. At the same time, it still provides an oversized trunk even when fully loaded with six passengers.

From the teaser images, the XPeng GX features a full, robust overall design. The front fascia continues the brand’s signature split-headlamp design, with a distinctive full-width light bar above. Two raised lines on the hood, combined with large-diameter wheels, further accentuate the sense of luxury and power.
The side profile is clean and minimalist. The angled transition from the A-pillar to the roof and the 45-degree rear angle create a strong visual impact. The size of the side windows suggests that ample third-row space will be provided. At the rear, the tail lamps also adopt a full-width design, paired with a hidden wiper, resulting in a clean and full appearance overall.
Interestingly, due to its overall proportions and side profile closely resembling the “Range Rover,” many media outlets have jokingly dubbed it the “Greater Bay Area Range Rover.”

Technically, He Xiaopeng revealed that the XPeng GX features an AI chassis equipped with steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering systems, delivering “agility and stability far beyond traditional large vehicles.”
Combined with previous leaks, the new model is approximately 5.1 meters in length with a 3-meter wheelbase. It is expected to offer both range-extended and pure-electric powertrains, utilizing an 800V high-voltage platform with 5C ultra-fast charging technology.
Although detailed specifications of the XPeng GX have not yet been disclosed, its full-size six-seat layout and flagship positioning clearly indicate that it will enter the highly competitive premium SUV market, competing against models including the NIO ES8, Li Auto L8, ONVO L90, and AITO M8.

Looking back at XPeng’s sales structure in 2025, the volume-driven model MONA M03—starting at RMB 119,800—accounted for 45.6% of the brand’s sales. In contrast, the higher-end G9 and X9 models each maintained annual sales of around 20,000 units, ranking at the bottom in terms of sales volume.
According to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) for various NEV segments in 2025, the cumulative sales of SUV models in the RMB 300,000–400,000 price range reached 555,941 units, a year-on-year increase of 42.8%, making it the fastest-growing market during the same period.
Against this backdrop, XPeng urgently needs a model to open up new growth space for the brand while entering the fastest-growing premium SUV segment.
Entering 2026, the XPeng GX officially kicks off XPeng’s big year for product launches. According to the plan, XPeng will launch 3 all-new models and 4 facelifted models this year, with significant product releases occurring almost every quarter.
