  • FAW Hongqi signs Huawei Qiankun “three intelligence, two integration” deal to co-develop smart vehicles.
  • Hongqi will deploy Huawei’s Qiankun driving, HarmonyOS cockpit, vehicle control, and cloud on 9 Series this year.
  • Partnership keeps Hongqi branding and sales independent while tightly integrating Huawei core intelligent tech.

FAW Hongqi announced it has reached a cooperation agreement with Huawei’s Qiankun intelligent automotive solution, citing “H+H=?,” with both parties set to jointly develop new vehicle models.

The partnership was initially disclosed at last year’s Huawei Qiankun Ecosystem Conference, where Huawei’s Intelligent Automotive Solution BU CEO Jin Yuzhi confirmed Hongqi as a partner, though details were not revealed at the time.

At the 2026 Intelligent Electric Vehicle Development Forum earlier this month, Jin outlined three cooperation models under Huawei Qiankun: the full-stack model, the “three intelligence, two integration” model, and the component supply model.

The collaboration with FAW Hongqi falls under the “three intelligence, two integration” model.

Future vehicles are expected to integrate Huawei Qiankun intelligent driving, HarmonyOS smart cockpit, Qiankun vehicle control, and Qiankun cloud services.

This approach differs from both the full-stack and component models.

Hongqi will neither sell vehicles through Huawei retail channels nor simply procure components, but instead bind closely with Huawei on core intelligent technologies while maintaining independent branding and distribution.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the cooperation will first be implemented on the Hongqi “9 Series” models within this year, where the latest solutions are expected to be deployed.

Current 9 Series models include H9, E-HS9, HQ9 and HQ9 PHEV, covering internal combustion, plug-in hybrid and battery electric powertrains.

Huawei has already established partnerships with multiple Chinese automakers, including BAIC, Changan, Dongfeng, GAC and SAIC.

With FAW Hongqi joining, cooperation between Huawei and major state-owned automakers is now broadly in place.

In recent years, Huawei has validated its capabilities through projects such as Avatr and the Harmony Intelligent Mobility alliance.

The Hongqi partnership further underscores a growing industry trend of leveraging external technology partners to accelerate intelligent transformation.
