The AION UT has officially been launched in Thailand, with prices starting at 519,900 THB.

Aion UT aims to enhance GAC’s global sales amidst competitive challenges.

On June 24, the AION UT was officially launched in the Thai market.

Two versions were introduced: the STANDARD version priced at 519,900 THB and the PREMIUM version priced at 669,900 THB. Additionally, customers who place an order before July 31 will receive a 20,000 THB discount.

In the Thai market, GAC also offers services such as an 8-year/160,000 km extended warranty, lifetime free OTA updates, and 8-year, 24-hour free roadside assistance.

Official data shows that during the pre-sale period, the AION UT received over 4,500 orders.

In February of this year, the AION UT was officially launched in the Chinese market as a compact pure electric hatchback, with a starting price of 69,800 RMB.

The vehicle’s early performance was impressive, with its first full month of deliveries nearing 5,000 units. However, sales showed a consecutive decline in the following two months: in April, 4,337 units were sold (a 12.91% month-on-month decrease), and in May, sales dropped to 3,724 units (a further 14.13% decline).

This sales performance differs from the expectations of Xiao Yong, the vice general manager of GAC Aion, who had previously stated that monthly sales of 10,000 to 15,000 units would be considered a success, with the goal of ranking among the top three in its segment. The decline could be attributed to the highly competitive nature of the segment, one of the fiercest in China’s automotive market. Strong competitors such as the BYD Seagull and Geely Xingyuan have already established a strong foothold in this segment, with good sales performance and the advantage of being first movers.

It is worth mentioning that GAC Aion has performed well in overseas markets. The AION UT’s entry into Thailand represents a new path for increasing sales and serves as an important step in Aion’s global expansion. Data shows that since the implementation of GAC International’s “One GAC 2.0” strategy, GAC has ranked second in Thailand’s EV market and eighth across all categories. From January to May 2025, GAC’s sales in Thailand reached 4,917 units, a 124% year-on-year increase, and it plans to introduce new models annually.

Additionally, the localization rate at GAC Aion’s Thai factory has reached 51%, and the AION UT is expected to be locally produced within the year.
