Starting with the all-electric CLA, the intelligent driving system co-developed with Momenta will be expanded to more Mercedes-Benz models in the future.

On September 25, Mercedes-Benz announced the official start of pre-sales for the all-new all-electric CLA. The new model is offered in two variants with the following pre-sale prices:

  • Super Long Range Version: Pre-sale price of 259,000 RMB (approximately $36,000 USD)

The all-new, all-electric CLA is now officially on the market.

The all-new all-electric CLA measures 4763 mm in length, 1836 mm in width, and 1471 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2830 mm. Compared to the standard-wheelbase model, the wheelbase has been increased by 40 mm, further enhancing the interior space. Another highlight is the 101 L front trunk.

The new car is built on the Mercedes-Benz MMA platform and features an 800V electrical architecture. It is equipped with an 89 kWh ternary lithium battery, offering a CLTC range of 866 km and an energy consumption of only 10.9 kWh per 100 km. It also supports adding 370 km of range with just 10 minutes of charging.

For the interior, the new car features a fresh triple-screen design consisting of a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch central control screen, and a 14-inch front passenger entertainment screen. It runs the MB.OS operating system, integrated with Doubao’s generative AI, optimizing the intelligent experience.

The new intelligent driving assistance system, co-developed by Mercedes-Benz and Momenta, will make its debut in the China-produced, all-electric CLA.

The most significant highlight of the all-new all-electric CLA is that it is the first model equipped with the intelligent driving assistance system jointly developed with Momenta.

This collaborative intelligent driving system is a solution developed specifically for the Chinese market. Based on Momenta’s “Flywheel” large model technology, it enables point-to-point intelligent assisted driving functions for highway, urban, and parking scenarios.

Officials stated that the system was jointly calibrated by Sino-German teams, balancing Mercedes-Benz’s safety and performance standards with Chinese local driving habits and road conditions. Reportedly, the system’s training data exclusively uses Chinese domestic data and incorporates material from numerous experienced drivers to ensure it better meets the needs of Chinese customers.

Currently, this new system has completed millions of kilometers of road and simulation testing in multiple Chinese cities. The test scenarios covered high-traffic roads, complex environments, and special situations, including extreme weather and unexpected complex road conditions.

Starting with the all-electric CLA, this intelligent driving assistance system will be expanded to more Mercedes-Benz models in the future.

In the future, the new intelligent driving assistance system will cover scenarios including highway driving, urban streets, and parking.

Due to localized production, the entry price for the all-new all-electric CLA is significantly lower than that of the currently available fuel-powered CLA. For reference, the fuel-powered Mercedes-Benz CLA four-door coupe starts at 309,200 RMB.

With the launch of the all-electric CLA, the results of the Mercedes-Benz-Momenta collaboration are about to be realized, marking a critical step for Mercedes-Benz in advancing its pure electric strategy.
