Tesla Launches Refreshed Model S/X in China, Priced from $120,400

The new Star Diamond Black paint version of Model S starts at RMB 855,900 ($120,400), while the same finish for Model X starts at RMB 895,900 ($126,040).

Tesla announced on November 21 that the Model S and Model X have received an update for the China market.

The latest refresh focuses on exterior color options, interior refinements and driving comfort enhancements, rather than major changes to the powertrain.

The updated models add two new exterior paint choices—Frost Blue and Star Diamond Black—along with redesigned wheels, offering more customization to buyers.

Launched in 2012 and 2015 respectively, the Model S and Model X entered the Chinese market in 2013 and 2016 and have undergone multiple overhauls since.

In April this year, due to tariff changes, Tesla abruptly removed the Model S and Model X new-order interfaces from its China online store, leaving only existing inventory available.

Tesla VP of Automotive Engineering Lars Moravy previously disclosed plans for deeper technical upgrades to the Model S/X lineup in late 2025, suggesting that this update is likely an interim refresh. The earlier halt in new orders may have aimed at clearing inventory ahead of the revision.
