Zhao Changjiang resigned from BYD, where he had worked for over 16 years since graduating.
According to Chinese media reports, former BYD executive Zhao Changjiang has joined LUXEED, a brand jointly created by Chery and Huawei, as General Manager of Marketing.
Public records show that Zhao Changjiang joined BYD in 2009 as a Regional Sales Manager. The following year, he was promoted to Marketing Director for the Beijing-Tianjin region, where he led his team to achieve a tenfold increase in sales and a market share exceeding 35%.

Building on his strong performance in the Beijing-Tianjin region, the then 31-year-old Zhao achieved a “triple jump” in his career progression, becoming BYD’s youngest-ever General Manager of Sales in 2017.
In early 2021, BYD decided to revitalize the DENZA brand, appointing Zhao Changjiang to lead the effort as General Manager of DENZA Sales. At that time, DENZA was at a critical transition period with annual sales of less than 5,000 vehicles.
After taking office, Zhao accurately identified the blue ocean market for premium new energy MPVs and spearheaded the launch of the DENZA D9 model.

Data shows that in October 2022, the DENZA D9 DM-i officially began deliveries. Its sales surged nearly tenfold in the second month and doubled again in the third month, reaching 6,002 units—breaking the long-standing sales record of the “old DENZA” in just three months. By June 2025, the 250,000th DENZA D9 vehicle rolled off the production line.
In July of this year, BYD initiated an executive rotation program, with Zhao Changjiang swapping positions with Li Hui, General Manager of Formula Leopard’s Direct Sales Division. This move was viewed externally as a transition for Zhao from overall management to more localized management.
Three months later, Zhao Changjiang officially departed from the company.

LUXEED, the company Zhao has chosen to join, is a new energy brand co-developed by Chery and Huawei and is currently at a critical stage of its development.

Since announcing its entry into “Phase 2.0,” LUXEED has clarified its “user-centric” strategy. Meanwhile, Huawei and Chery have invested over 10 billion RMB and a 5,000-person R&D team into LUXEED, achieving integrated operations across production, sales, and service.
It is reported that the first MPV model under Huawei’s HIMA will be launched by LUXEED—a segment where Zhao Changjiang has proven expertise. The combination of the two is expected to create significant synergies, and we will continue to monitor future developments.
