WeRide aims for fully driverless Robotaxi operations in Dubai starting early 2026.
WeRide and Uber announced today that they will partner with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to officially launch a public Robotaxi service in Dubai through the Uber App.
According to the plan, the service will initially cover Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah, two of the most popular areas for tourists.
Passengers can select the exclusive “Autonomous” category on the Uber platform to hail a Robotaxi directly. Tawasul will serve as the primary fleet operator for WeRide’s Robotaxi on the Uber platform, providing fleet management services.

It is worth mentioning that since the official announcement of the partnership between WeRide and Uber in Dubai this past April, the two parties have jointly conducted pilot and road testing. Currently, the vehicles will operate with safety drivers onboard, with plans to achieve fully driverless commercial Robotaxi operations by early 2026.
WeRide’s autonomous vehicle fleet in the Middle East region is approaching 150 vehicles, of which over 100 are Robotaxis. Li Xuan, CFO of WeRide, stated that the company is rapidly expanding its business in the Middle East and globally, with the goal of deploying tens of thousands of Robotaxis by 2030.
Currently, WeRide is the only technology company in the world to hold autonomous driving licenses from five countries simultaneously: China, the UAE, Singapore, France, and the United States.
