Volkswagen Anhui plans to launch four models in 2026, including the UNYX 08, the updated UNYX 06, the electric sedan UNYX 07, and a new B+ segment sedan.
On March 13, Volkswagen announced that the first model jointly developed with Xpeng, the UNYX 08, has officially rolled off the production line at Volkswagen Anhui’s factory.
The vehicle is also the first product from the partnership to enter mass production since the two companies reached a strategic cooperation agreement in 2023.
According to official information, it took about 24 months from the signing of the joint development technology agreement to the start of mass production.
Positioned as a full-size pure electric SUV, the UNYX 08 integrates Volkswagen’s vehicle engineering system with locally developed intelligent technologies in China.
The new model adopts an 800-volt high-voltage SiC platform supporting ultra-fast charging.
It also comes standard with Xpeng’s VLA full-scenario intelligent driving assistance system, enabling enhanced Level 2 driver assistance functions.
Previously released interior images show that the cabin layout reflects strong localization in design.
The front cabin features a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster paired with dual 14.96-inch 2.4K central display screens.
The steering wheel retains physical buttons and mechanical rollers, with an illuminated gold Volkswagen logo in the center.
The overall cockpit structure shows significant similarities to the Xpeng G9, highlighting Xpeng’s leading role in intelligent cockpit systems and electronic architecture.
In addition, based on the joint vehicle development program, Volkswagen’s Technology Center China (VCTC) and CARIAD China teams collaborated with Xpeng to develop the Volkswagen Group’s first localized regional electronic and electrical architecture for China, known as CEA (China Electronic Architecture). The UNYX 08 is the first model to adopt this architecture.
Beyond the UNYX 08, the second jointly developed model between Volkswagen and Xpeng is also scheduled to launch later this year.
At the same time, Volkswagen Anhui is accelerating its product rollout. According to the company’s product plan in 2026, four models are scheduled for launch this year.
In the first quarter, the ID. UNYX 08 will be introduced to the market.
In the second quarter, Volkswagen will launch the updated 2026 version of the ID. UNYX 06 and unveil the brand’s first pure electric sedan, the ID. UNYX 07.
In the fourth quarter, the company also plans to introduce a new B+ segment pure electric sedan, reportedly codenamed ID. UNYX 09.
