Spy Shots Surface of Luxeed’s First Sporty Coupe-SUV

Takeaways
  • Luxeed’s leaked low-slung coupe‑SUV shows a fastback body, pop‑out handles, full‑width taillight, and big rear wing mount.
  • Roof sensor pod and likely LiDAR point to high‑level driving autonomy with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS and HarmonyOS cockpit.
  • Luxeed aims Nürburgring credibility and 800V/triple‑motor performance to reverse steep sales decline and move upmarket.

Luxeed, the Chery-Huawei joint EV brand, just leaked its first sporty coupe-SUV. Recent high-definition spy shots reveal a brand-new FUV model.

The car sits low with a long hood and a flowing curved body. A fastback roofline gives a strong sporty stance. Design blends coupe agility with SUV practicality.

Pop-up semi-hidden door handles cut drag and clean the side profile. At the rear, a full-width taillight continues Luxeed’s family look. A large rear wing mount is pre-installed.

On the roof sits a sensor pod – likely a LiDAR. That signals a high-level self-driving system.

Performance defines this FUV. A person close to Luxeed told 36Kr in early April that the brand is working on a high-performance coupe. The insider called it “an extreme performance target.” To prove that claim, Luxeed plans to ship this car to Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife – the “Green Hell”. The goal: benchmark overseas luxury supercars.

Industry watchers believe this is the FUV. The move aims to push Luxeed upmarket.

About the vehicle’s powertrain, analysts expect Huawei’s 800V platform. A digital chassis may join with AI-driven real-time torque vectoring. Given the performance focus, a triple‑motor setup is possible.

On the smart side, Huawei’s Qiankun ADS and HarmonyOS cockpit will also come aboard.

Look at the current lineup. Luxeed sells the S7 sedan and the R7 SUV – both family‑oriented and comfort-focused. The new FUV sits between them. It shifts the brand from family haulers to high-performance territory, emphasizing driving fun.

Beyond the FUV, Luxeed has a flagship MPV called the V9. That model launches on May 15. Official planning targets 120,000 units a year for the V9.

The numbers explain the urgency. Luxeed sold just 2,346 vehicles in April. That is a 47.4% drop from a year earlier. For the first four months of 2026, cumulative sales hit 10,376 units – down 72.3% from 37,470 in the same period of 2025. New models like the FUV and V9 are meant to reverse the slide.

A note on the “FUV” label. It first gained fame with Ferrari’s Purosangue, officially called a Ferrari Utility Vehicle – stressing multi‑function. In the electric era, many brands use FUV as shorthand for a versatile crossover.

Luxeed is not alone. Voyah (Dongfeng’s premium EV arm) said in January it would launch an FUV codenamed “FE.” Last week, that car appeared on China’s MIIT registry with the official name Voyah Zhuiguang S (Chasing Light S).

And more sporty coupes are coming. Xiaomi’s YU7 GT, among others, will hit the market soon. Multiple automakers piling into this segment shows.
