- MG opens MG 07 pre-sales July 29 with an 800V platform and up to 840 km CLTC range.
- The coupe accelerates to 100 km/h in ~5 seconds and supports 5C ultra-fast charging.
- MG hopes the 07 diversifies sales beyond the MG4 and battles rivals like Xiaomi SU7 and SAIC Z7.
SAIC Motor’s MG brand will open pre-sales for its new all-electric coupe, the MG 07, on July 29.
The B-segment electric sedan adopts a fastback coupe profile. It measures 4,886 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, 1,485 mm in height, with a 2,825 mm wheelbase.

The exterior focuses on a sport-oriented design. A one-piece clamshell hood sits above sculpted floating headlamps. The side profile features a liftback roofline, four frameless doors. A five-position active rear spoiler rounds out the rear, balancing visual appeal with aerodynamic performance.
The model offers two 19-inch wheel designs: Xinghuan Gravity and Silverstone Racing. Buyers can also choose between White Violet or Royal Blue interior themes.
Technology forms a key part of the package. The MG 07 features an advanced driver assistance system built on Momenta’s world model, powered by the Xheart X7 AI computing platform. Its chassis adopts the mCDC intelligent electromagnetic suspension, capable of making 200 adjustments per second. An AI predictive sensing system scans 15-150 meters ahead, preparing the suspension for upcoming road conditions.
The car rides on an 800V high-voltage architecture. Maximum CLTC driving range reaches 840 km. It supports 5C ultra-fast charging, accelerates from 0-100 km/h in around five seconds.
Inside, the cabin is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295P cockpit processor, a 15.6-inch 2.5K floating infotainment display. MG’s latest-generation smart cockpit software supports smartphone connectivity, AI voice interaction.

Based on the specifications disclosed so far, the MG 07 largely matches the feature set now common among China’s mainstream 200K RMB ($29.4K) EVs. Its 800V platform, advanced driver assistance system, Snapdragon 8295P cockpit processor, comfort equipment leave few obvious disadvantages against rivals in the same price bracket.
The car’s styling has also sparked discussion on Chinese social media. Some users noted similarities in the MG 07’s proportions, headlamp design to Xiaomi’s SU7 and SAIC Z7, arguing it is another electric coupe influenced by Porsche’s design language.

MG Brand General Manager Chen Cui rejected those claims during a livestream last week. He said the MG 07 does not copy competing models; instead, its styling pays tribute to classic MG sports cars.
Sales data also illustrate why the MG 07 matters for the brand. MG sold 15,144 new-energy vehicles in China during May. The MG4 accounted for 15,067 units, contributing almost the entire volume. Sales of the MG ES5, Cyberster, and MG4X all remained below 100 units.
The heavy reliance on a single model remains one of MG’s biggest challenges in its EV portfolio. The MG 07 is expected to broaden that lineup. Its styling aligns with today’s mainstream market preferences.

Meanwhile, the MG Cyberster, priced from around 320K RMB ($47.0K), has posted modest sales, suggesting MG has yet to establish strong recognition above the 300K RMB ($44.1K) segment. That leaves the MG 07 likely to compete directly with the SAIC Z7 and Xiaomi SU7, while a price below 200K RMB ($29.4K) would better match MG’s current brand positioning.
