- Changan’s NEVO Q06 styling mirrors Xiaomi’s YU7, igniting social-media accusations of design copying.
- Priced around 150K RMB, the Q06 aims to undercut pricier coupe-style EVs and target younger buyers.
- Q06 packs 245 kW rear motor, 800V SiC electricals and fast 6C flash charging for strong performance.
Changan’s NEVO Q06 has yet to launch, yet the model is already drawing attention for its styling. A new teaser image released today quickly sparked discussion across Chinese social media, with many users comparing the electric SUV to Xiaomi’s YU7.
The official teaser shows the vehicle from a low rear angle. A coupe-style roofline, sharply raked D-pillar, flared rear wheel arches, and a wide, low stance give the Q06 proportions that many observers believe closely resemble the Xiaomi YU7. The similarities quickly became the focus of online discussion after the teaser was released.

This is not the first time the Q06 has attracted attention for its styling. Previously leaked undisguised prototype images showed the SUV in bright green paint, paired with black wheel-arch cladding, black side skirts, semi-hidden door handles, and frameless doors.
Its side profile and sporty body kit prompted some Chinese netizens to nickname it the “Redmi YU7,” comparing it to Xiaomi’s budget Redmi smartphone brand.

The debate reflects a broader trend across China’s new-energy vehicle market. When Xiaomi launched the SU7 and YU7, both models were also criticized for borrowing styling cues from Porsche and Ferrari.
After the two vehicles gained strong market attention through their sporty appearance, several rivals—including the SAIC Z7, AISTALAND GT7, Voyah Passion S, and Luxeed RX—were unveiled. Many of those models also faced comparisons with Xiaomi over their exterior design.
Previous market performance suggests styling has been one of Xiaomi’s strongest advantages. The YU7 quickly gained traction by offering a more athletic alternative to conventional SUVs, combining sporty styling, performance-oriented driving dynamics, and intelligent features. The formula resonated with younger buyers.
Changan NEVO is pursuing a similar strategy. Unlike many competing coupe-style electric SUVs priced above 200K RMB ($29.4K), the Q06 is expected to start at around 150K RMB ($22.1K), giving it a lower entry price aimed at younger, more price-sensitive consumers.

Recent demand also suggests growing interest in the segment. Strong pre-orders for XPeng’s MONA L03 — itself a sporty coupe SUV — indicate that younger buyers are drawn to this style, highlighting the segment’s growth potential.
Beyond styling, the Q06 also offers competitive specifications for the 150K RMB ($22.1K) segment. The model is built on Changan’s SDA architecture and is positioned as an upper mid-size battery-electric SUV. It measures 4,837 mm long, 1,970 mm wide, 1,670 mm tall, with a 2,940 mm wheelbase.
Power comes from a single rear-mounted electric motor producing up to 245 kW. The Q06 is also expected to adopt an 800V silicon-carbide electrical architecture supporting 6C flash charging, combining strong performance with fast charging capability.
Sales data also highlights why the model matters for the brand. NEVO sold 29,754 vehicles in May. The Q05 accounted for roughly half of total deliveries, while the remaining lineup contributed relatively limited volume.

Sporty coupe-style battery-electric SUVs remain uncommon in the 150K RMB ($22.1K) segment. Combined with its electric powertrain, fast-charging capability, and expected pricing, the Q06 offers a differentiated proposition. Whether it can become NEVO’s next volume driver, however, will depend on market reception after launch.
