On May 15, BYD established its European headquarters in Hungary. This strategic move will strengthen BYD’s market presence and enhance service efficiency in Europe.

BYD’s European center will feature three key functions: a hub for sales and after-sales services, testing facilities, and an R&D center for localized vehicle models. It is also expected to create 2,000 jobs.

Currently, BYD offers three pure electric models in Hungary: ATTO 3 (Yuan PLUS), Dolphin, and Seal, and has opened two sales outlets in Budapest.

BYD announced the construction of its first European factory in Komárom, northwestern Hungary, back in 2016, which began production in 2017. In December 2024, BYD announced plans to build a new energy vehicle manufacturing base in Szeged. The project will be carried out in phases, creating thousands of local jobs, with an investment exceeding 1 billion euros. It will be the first passenger vehicle factory in Europe built by a Chinese automaker.

Europe has become a crucial overseas market for BYD. Its brand, DENZA, is set to enter dozens of European countries within two years. Data shows that in April 2025, BYD’s sales in 14 European countries, including Spain, Italy, France, the UK, and Germany, exceeded 10,000 units.
