The updated G6 will enter production in Q4 2025, with the project code changed from F30b to F30be.
According to AutoPix, XPeng is formulating a cost-reduction plan for its main SUV model, the G6, aiming to reduce the cost per vehicle by ¥10,000 to ¥20,000 ($1,400–$2,800) primarily through changes in parts suppliers.
The updated G6 is scheduled to begin production in the fourth quarter of 2025, with the project code revised from F30b to F30be. Notably, this round of cost optimization will not involve any design or feature adjustments. The key goal is to prepare for future price cuts, which will help alleviate the positioning overlap between the G6 and the newly launched G7.

Reports indicate that XPeng’s SUV lineup in 2026 will consist of at least four models. In addition to the three currently available, a new model codenamed D03 will be produced at the Wuhan factory. D03 will mirror the market positioning of the MONA M03, which is priced between ¥119,800 and ¥139,800 ($16,772–$19,572). All four SUVs are also expected to eventually offer extended-range hybrid (EREV) variants.
However, before launching more new models, XPeng must clarify the positioning of its existing SUV lineup and establish a well-defined price hierarchy.

This cost-reduction effort is largely motivated by the need to recalibrate product pricing within the lineup.
Launched in early July, the G7 has a starting price of ¥195,800 ($27,412). Despite being positioned as a mid-to-large SUV with superior features—such as AR-HUD and a rear-seat infotainment screen—its price overlaps with the high-end G6, which is priced between ¥176,800 and ¥198,800 ($24,752–$27,832). In fact, the G6’s top trim is more expensive than the base G7, causing confusion among consumers. XPeng now urgently needs to distinguish each model’s target market:
- G6: Focused on the sub-¥200,000 ($28,000) segment, emphasizing value for money.
- G7: Covering the ¥190,000–¥230,000 ($26,600–$32,200) range, highlighting tech upgrades.
- G9: Positioned in the ¥240,000–¥270,000 ($33,600–$37,800) premium market.

Despite upcoming price adjustments, the G6 retains several notable product advantages, including 5C ultra-fast charging, dual Orin chips supporting advanced driver-assistance, and ample cabin space. In March 2025, the G6 received a facelift that boosted monthly sales from 4,000 units to over 5,500, showing significant momentum. However, it still lags behind XPeng’s MONA M03, which sells over 10,000 units per month. This round of cost-cutting and potential price reductions is expected to unlock more market potential for the G6.
While XPeng has a clear strategic goal, whether this cost-reduction approach is technically feasible and operationally effective remains a major test of the company’s system-wide capabilities.
