USCALE’s survey shows rising EV satisfaction, with XPeng topping the NPS rankings, driven by advancements in range and fast-charging technology.
German market research firm USCALE has released its latest EV Satisfaction Study 2025.
The study, conducted between May and June 2025, polled over 5,000 EV owners across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, evaluating key metrics such as range, charging, and software experience.
The results revealed that XPeng has secured the No. 1 spot in Net Promoter Score (NPS), becoming the first Chinese brand to top the ranking. This marks a significant shift, ending Tesla’s long-standing dominance. Porsche and Polestar ranked second and third, respectively, while NIO came in seventh, outperforming Ford and BYD.

As evidenced by USCALE’s data, the overall EV satisfaction has risen notably compared to 2023 and 2024, with the average NPS climbing from 24 to 33. Improvements in range and charging performance were the main drivers: around 50% of respondents reported achieving over 400 km of summer range, compared to just 38% last year.
Fast-charging technology also improved significantly, with 75% of vehicles now supporting 150 kW or higher DC fast charging, up from 61% in 2024. However, charging issues remain common, with 73% of users reporting problems such as failed or interrupted charging sessions.

XPeng was highly rated for its range, energy efficiency, and charging performance, though its route planning software lagged slightly. NIO gained recognition for its software and user-friendly design but still fell behind in charging speed. Tesla’s score dropped due to slower charging speeds and ongoing controversies.
Industry observers note that XPeng’s rise reflects not just a ranking shift but growing acceptance of Chinese EV startups in the European market. However, software sophistication and service experience remain critical challenges that will determine whether these brands can sustain their lead.
