BYD’s “Zhengzhou” Ship Delivers 300 Sealion 07 EVs to Thailand

The Zhengzhou will return to Thailand to load NEVs produced at BYD’s Thai plant for shipment to Europe.

Recently, BYD’s car carrier Zhengzhou completed its voyage, delivering 300 Sealion 07 EV all-electric SUVs to Laem Chabang Port in Thailand.

On its maiden Southeast Asia voyage, the Zhengzhou made stops in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, successfully completing the trip and is now returning. In the next phase, the Zhengzhou will return to Thailand to load NEVs produced at BYD’s Thai plant for shipment to the European market.

The BYD Thai plant, located in Rayong province’s manufacturing hub, represents a total investment of about THB 35 billion (RMB 6.8 billion/$1.085 billion), covers 948,000 square meters, and has an annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles. It has become BYD’s core manufacturing hub in the Asia-Pacific region and has already localized production for three vehicle models.

For the Thai domestic market, BYD adopts a dual-track strategy—expanding localized production capacity while accelerating sales network growth. Through cooperation with its exclusive distributor in Thailand, Rever Automotive, BYD plans to expand its dealership network to 300 outlets by the end of 2025. In addition to the Sealion series, BYD has introduced models such as the Dolphin and Denza D9, covering various market segments.

In the first half of 2025, BYD achieved a full breakthrough in the Asia-Pacific region, with Thailand’s performance particularly outstanding. BYD ranked first in both NEV and pure EV sales in Thailand, with a pure EV market share of 35%. In Singapore, it became the passenger car sales champion for the first half of 2025, while in Hong Kong, BYD delivered 17,000 vehicles, achieving a 30% market share.

Overall, BYD’s overseas sales in the first half of 2025 reached 470,000 units, up 132% year-on-year, surpassing the total overseas sales for all of 2024.

With the delivery of 300 Sealion 07 EVs by the Zhengzhou, BYD’s localization strategy in Thailand has entered a new stage. The Thai plant, with its annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles, has become BYD’s strategic pivot for the entire Southeast Asian market.
