Grab will invest tens of millions of USD in WeRide, with the transaction expected to close no later than the first half of 2026.
WeRide’s Robotaxi business generated RMB 45.9 million ($6.3 million) in revenue in Q2 2025, representing a year-over-year (YoY) surge of 836.7%, while its gross margin rose to 28.1%.
On August 15, WeRide announced it will establish an in-depth collaboration with Southeast Asia’s super app platform Grab: Grab will invest tens of millions of dollars in WeRide, with the transaction expected to be completed no later than the first half of 2026.
This investment is part of the strategic partnership between the two parties, aimed at accelerating the large-scale deployment of L4-level Robotaxis and other autonomous vehicles in Southeast Asia.
Under the agreement, the two parties will establish a cooperative framework. WeRide will deploy Robotaxis and other autonomous vehicles within Grab’s operational network to enhance operational efficiency and scalability. As part of this strategic collaboration, WeRide will integrate its self-developed autonomous driving technology into Grab’s fleet management, vehicle matching, and route planning systems.
Additionally, WeRide and Grab will jointly conduct skills training to support career transitions for interested Grab drivers and local community members.

- Customer Support: Implement rapid issue feedback and resolution mechanisms to ensure smooth service.
- Training and Skill Development: Utilize WeRide’s expertise in autonomous vehicle remote assistance and GrabAcademy’s driver-training framework to prepare drivers and local community members for careers in the autonomous driving industry.
