XPeng to Roll out Mass-Market Mona Brand in Europe by 2026

Xpeng began its global expansion in Norway in 2020 and has already achieved its target of covering 60 countries and regions by the end of 2025 ahead of schedule.

On September 8, Xpeng Motors CEO He Xiaopeng told CNBC in an interview at the IAA Mobility in Munich that the company plans to roll out its mass-market Mona brand overseas next year and introduce multiple models to Europe and other markets by 2026.

He noted that Xpeng’s pace of international expansion has already exceeded expectations. “By 2026, you will see multiple Mona products launched simultaneously in China, Europe, and other global markets,” He said, marking the first time the company has disclosed a clear overseas timetable for Mona.

Xpeng debuted the Mona brand in China in 2024 with the launch of the Mona M03 electric fastback, starting at RMB 119,800 ($16,800). The price is roughly half that of a Tesla Model 3.

With its competitive pricing and features, the M03 delivered more than 15,000 units in August alone, with cumulative deliveries surpassing 160,000.

The report added that Mona vehicles entering Europe will be priced lower than Xpeng’s premium P7 sedan and G6 SUV. He described the upcoming Mona models as “very mature and highly competitive products.”

The move comes as Chinese automakers accelerate their overseas expansion, intensifying competition in Europe. BYD and others are already investing in local plants, while legacy carmakers such as Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and BMW are racing to transition to EVs.

Tesla, meanwhile, has seen sales in Europe decline. With Mona entering at a more affordable price point, Xpeng could reshape the competitive landscape.

Xpeng has been stepping up its European push. Since entering Norway in 2020, the company has expanded into Germany, France, and other markets.

The company initially targeted coverage in 60 countries and regions by the end of 2025, a goal He said has already been achieved ahead of schedule.

Still, challenges remain. The European Union has imposed additional tariffs on Chinese EVs, prompting Chinese automakers to consider building local plants to mitigate risks.

He acknowledged that Xpeng is also exploring localized production but has yet to set a timeline.
