XPeng Starts Local Production in Europe as G6 and G9 Roll Off Assembly Line

XPeng’s operations now extend across more than 46 countries and regions worldwide, with Magna’s plant set to take on production of additional XPeng models in the future.

On September 15, XPeng Motors announced the official launch of its first localized production project in Europe, in partnership with Magna’s plant in Graz, Austria. The facility has already completed the first mass-production runs of XPeng’s G6 and G9 models.

Magna, a globally renowned automotive contract manufacturer, has long provided production services for leading European carmakers including Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

Its mature systems in manufacturing, quality management, and supply chain offer XPeng a strong foundation for scaling up quickly.

Leveraging Magna’s platform, XPeng is able to accelerate its production ramp-up in Europe while ensuring product quality. The Magna’s plant is expected to take on additional XPeng models in the future.

Since entering Europe in 2021 via Norway, XPeng has gradually built a comprehensive overseas presence. As of today, the company’s operations span more than 46 countries and regions worldwide.

Between January and July 2025, XPeng delivered 18,701 vehicles overseas, marking a 217% year-on-year increase.

Europe was the standout market, with more than 8,000 registrations in the first half alone. The G6 accounted for 67% of that volume, underscoring its role as a key growth driver.

With the G9 now entering local production, XPeng is set to sharpen its competitiveness in the mid-to-large SUV segment.

At the same time, the XPeng P7+, promoted as the “world’s first AI car,” is preparing to debut in Europe.

Beyond its product lineup, XPeng has established its first European R&D center in Munich, Germany.

The center focuses on technology adaptation for local markets and will also spearhead development of several new models, including pure electric sedans, compact and mid-size SUVs, and high-performance EVs.

With G6 and G9 now in localized mass production and new models like the P7+ on the way, XPeng is rapidly forming a full local value chain in Europe, integrating both R&D and manufacturing to accelerate its expansion strategy.
