The MONA lineup is poised to include both BEV and EREV versions, with the latter expected to target the sub-RMB 150,000 ($21,000) segment.
On September 12, spy shots of XPeng’s upcoming MONA-series vehicle surfaced online, showing what is expected to be the first SUV under the MONA brand.
Two camouflaged images revealed a crossover-style silhouette, suggesting XPeng is preparing to expand the MONA portfolio beyond sedans.

In terms of design, the SUV adopts a front fascia similar to that of the MONA M03 sedan, with overall proportions falling between the M03 and XPeng’s larger G9 SUV. The vehicle features semi-concealed door handles, frameless doors, and a fastback profile.
The SUV is estimated to measure around 4.6–4.7 meters in length, about 1.6 meters in height, and roughly the same width as XPeng’s existing models. According to leaks, it may also be equipped with a head-up display (HUD) system.

From a product strategy perspective, the model is expected to follow the diversified approach of the MONA lineup. Previous reports indicated that the series will include both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, aiming to capture a wider market base.
XPeng CEO He Xiaopeng confirmed at the IAA Mobility in Munich that future XPeng products will continue to develop along dual tracks: BEV and EREVs.
Historically focused on pure electric vehicles, XPeng plans to position extended-range MONA models in the sub-RMB 150,000 ($21,000) segment, directly competing with models such as the BYD Qin L EV and Leapmotor B01.

He Xiaopeng has also emphasized that the MONA series will not be limited to just one or two models but will evolve into a comprehensive product lineup.
Designed as a global platform, the MONA family will include both left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive models, multiple powertrain formats, and aims for localized partnerships to support international expansion.
The MONA M03 sedan, launched in August 2024, is available in three variants priced between RMB 119,800 and RMB 155,800 ($16,830–$21,870).
Sales data shows that the MONA M03 delivered over 15,000 units in August, marking the 12th consecutive month with sales above 10,000 units. Its cumulative deliveries have surpassed 160,000.
In Q1 2025, the model accounted for 50.1% of XPeng’s total sales, driving a 331% year-on-year surge in overall deliveries and enabling XPeng to overtake Li Auto as the top-selling Chinese EV startup.
