Mercedes-Benz Unveils Vision Iconic Concept Car, Signaling Next-Gen S-Class EV

Mercedes says Vision Iconic serves as a design reference for the next-gen all-electric S-Class, expected in 2026.

On October 14, Mercedes-Benz officially unveiled its new Vision Iconic concept car.

The design draws inspiration from 1930s Art Deco aesthetics, blending classic motifs with modern technology to create a retro-futuristic style. The front grille retains Mercedes’ signature shield-shaped vertical design, referencing models such as the W108, W111, and 600 Pullman.

A wide chrome frame, smoked glass texture mesh, integrated contour lighting, and illuminated star emblem give the vehicle strong brand recognition in the digital era.

The vehicle features an elongated front proportion, smooth body lines, continuous light strips, and hidden door handles, maintaining vintage elements while projecting a clear sense of futurism.

Inside, the Vision Iconic continues the Art Deco theme. The central “Zeppelin” floating glass dashboard combines analogue-style digital instruments with modern screen functionality.

The cabin incorporates deep blue velvet, mother-of-pearl inlays, and straw marquetry, balancing luxury and comfort. A four-spoke steering wheel and floating three-pointed star emblem add refined detail to the driver’s area.

Mercedes has not disclosed powertrain specifics. Based on technologies in other concept models, such as the Vision One-Eleven, the Vision Iconic may feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with a combined output potentially exceeding 500 kW, allowing 0-100 km/h acceleration in the 3-second range.

For autonomous driving, the vehicle is equipped with Level 4 systems and steer-by-wire technology. Neural-inspired computing mimics brain function, offering tenfold processing efficiency and potentially cutting energy consumption for autonomous driving data by 90%.

Mercedes indicated that the Vision Iconic will serve as a design reference for the next-generation all-electric S-Class, expected to launch in 2026, positioned above the current EQS, targeting high-net-worth customers seeking a blend of technology and classic design.
