- Geely Xingyuan stays China’s top-selling EV sedan with 32,306 July deliveries and steady demand.
- Xiaomi SU7 ranks second with 21,044 units, proving premium-priced models can still hit volume.
- EV sedan market cools in July as hatchbacks dominate and sales polarize around fewer winners.
July EV sedan sales rankings have been released.
Looking across the overall leaderboard without separating price segments or body styles, the market performance was far from encouraging.
According to ChinaEV Home’s statistics, six of the Top 10 models recorded month-on-month declines in July, with the largest drop exceeding 27%.
The average decline among these models reached 13.13%, while the remaining four models posted an average growth rate of only 7.15%.
The comparison shows that EV sedans did not deliver an impressive performance in July.

Whether due to increasing pressure from SUV rivals or the impact of the traditional summer off-season, market headwinds have become increasingly visible.
The body-style distribution was also notable: hatchbacks accounted for a striking 80% of the Top 10 EV sedan list, with only Xiaomi SU7 and XPeng MONA M03 adopting traditional three-box sedan designs.
From both sales volume and body style perspectives, the July rankings reveal a clear trend: consumers are showing stronger preference for entry-level hatchback models, while buyers remain cautious toward higher-priced vehicles.
This could become a new market trend in the second half of the year. The previous scenario where multiple models achieved strong sales simultaneously may become less common, as the market moves toward greater polarization, with fewer best-selling models capturing concentrated demand while other products compete for an increasingly crowded remaining market.
The coming months will show whether this trend continues.
Top 1: Geely Xingyuan — 32,306 units
In July, Geely Xingyuan once again claimed the monthly EV sedan sales crown with 32,306 units delivered.
It also returned to the top of China’s overall vehicle sales rankings across all price ranges, powertrain types and body styles, surpassing Tesla Model Y with its relatively stable sales performance.
The reason for describing its performance as “relatively stable” is that although Xingyuan’s monthly sales declined from 33,359 units in June, the drop was only 3.16%, a relatively limited decline.

More importantly, its competitors provided a favorable comparison: among all models in July, only Geely Xingyuan surpassed 30,000 monthly sales, while Tesla Model Y was also competing at a similar level in June.
Therefore, maintaining sales stability amid an overall market downturn has been the key factor allowing Xingyuan to retain its position as the “best-selling EV sedan” in China.
In addition, the current Geely Xingyuan was officially launched on May 28, 2026, meaning the model is unlikely to face a facelift or generation change risk in the near term.
Buyers do not need to worry about an immediate product update undermining their purchase decision.
On the sales front, Geely Xingyuan currently offers limited-time purchase benefits with prices ranging from RMB 61,800 to RMB 91,800 ($9,100-$13,500), and launched an “800,000-unit customer appreciation benefits” campaign on August 11, which could further stimulate potential demand.
Overall, the accumulated sales momentum and product reputation of Geely Xingyuan are now translating into more stable market performance.
If product quality and competitiveness remain intact, Xingyuan could stay among the top three models for an extended period.
Top 2: Xiaomi SU7 — 21,044 units
Xiaomi SU7 ranked second in July EV sedan sales, delivering 21,044 units, up 3.09% month on month from 20,414 units in June and further strengthening its position.
Considering Xiaomi SU7’s higher starting price of RMB 219,900 ($32,400), as well as its ability to maintain monthly sales above 20,000 units after the refreshed model launch, SU7’s current sales performance can arguably be viewed as stronger than Geely Xingyuan’s.

To some extent, Xiaomi SU7 has become Xiaomi Auto’s core volume driver.
With the latest SU7 maintaining its pricing structure while receiving broad configuration upgrades, the model has demonstrated the ability to inherit the strong sales momentum of the original SU7.
Entering August, Xiaomi adjusted some purchase incentives for SU7, including a three-year interest-free financing policy for vehicles in stock and RMB 6,000 ($880) insurance subsidies.
At present, Xiaomi SU7’s market reputation has stabilized, while consumer awareness of the model continues to mature.
The vehicle is expected to remain a frequent presence in the top three rankings before its next-generation replacement cycle arrives.
Top 3: BYD Dolphin — 13,910 units
BYD Dolphin was one of only two models in the top five to achieve month-on-month growth, delivering 13,910 units in July, up 6.96% from June.
However, the sales gap between the top models has become increasingly apparent.
After Geely Xingyuan’s 30,000-unit level and Xiaomi SU7’s 20,000-unit level, BYD Dolphin’s third-place position came with sales dropping directly into the 10,000-unit range — a key signal of increasing market differentiation.

It is worth noting that BYD Dolphin’s current mainstream version remains the “2025 Smart Driving Edition,” which was launched in spring 2025. In other words, the model has already been on sale for more than a year.
Regarding the 2026 model, it has already appeared on China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) vehicle declaration list, with market expectations pointing to an August launch.
According to MIIT filings, the key upgrade for the 2026 Dolphin could be optional LiDAR hardware, enabling urban navigation-assisted driving functions.
However, considering BYD’s recent move to increase the price of advanced driver assistance packages, even if the new Dolphin offers stronger intelligent driving hardware, whether consumers are willing to spend nearly 10% of the vehicle’s price on optional high-level driving assistance features remains uncertain.
Top 4: MG4 — 13,157 units
The MG4, which ranked above BYD Dolphin in June, slipped to fourth place in July after monthly sales fell 8.61%, with 13,157 units delivered.
Despite the decline, MG4 has maintained monthly sales between 13,000 and 15,000 units since March, demonstrating considerable product resilience.
Its repositioning strategy and design updates appear to have helped the model gain stronger market recognition.

Similar to Geely Xingyuan, MG4 recently received a facelift, with the 2026 model unveiled during the Beijing Auto Show.
This means current buyers do not need to worry about an immediate model replacement, which could improve purchase confidence among potential customers.
From a product perspective, MG4 has also introduced a version equipped with a semi-solid-state battery, offering a differentiated option in the segment.
However, the mainstream-selling version is still expected to be the entry model, which starts at a list price of RMB 68,800 ($10,100) and is available at a limited-time subsidized price of RMB 65,800 ($9,700).
Its main strategy remains competing through cost efficiency in the entry-level market.
Top 5: Wuling Bingo Pro — 12,225 units
Ranking fifth, Wuling Bingo Pro has delivered a relatively strong performance.
As a new model that only began large-scale deliveries in May, it has surpassed the 10,000-unit monthly sales mark for three consecutive months.
However, its July sales declined from June, with a month-on-month drop of 13.63%, the largest decline among the top five models.

Looking at the product itself, despite the different naming, the Wuling Bingo Pro is effectively positioned as a higher-level alternative to the Wuling Bingo lineup, with a price range of RMB 56,800-70,800 ($8,400-$10,400).
Compared with the original model, it offers larger dimensions and improved interior space.
In terms of styling, Wuling Bingo Pro places greater emphasis on a retro-inspired design language, with upgraded exterior details.
Inside, it introduces more modern cabin features, including a 12.8-inch central touchscreen and a 50W wireless charging pad.
However, compared with competitors such as Geely Xingyuan, BYD Dolphin and MG4 in the A0-class hatchback segment, range remains one of Bingo Pro’s potential weaknesses.
The entry version offers only 330km of CLTC range, while the top trim, priced at RMB 70,800 ($10,400) after incentives, reaches only 403km.
In the long term, as a newly launched model, Wuling Bingo Pro still needs more time and stronger sales results to prove its competitiveness.
Meanwhile, after launching multiple products under the Bingo nameplate, Wuling’s bigger challenge may be turning the Bingo family into a long-term iconic product line.
Top 6: Chery QQ3 EV — 10,780 units
Chery QQ3 EV, which has already been on the market for some time, ranked sixth with 10,780 units sold in July, representing a modest 2.43% increase from June.
As a small EV positioned as the revival of a classic nameplate, QQ3 EV appears to have largely achieved Chery’s expectations.
After entering large-scale deliveries in April, sales continued to climb, allowing the model to exceed 10,000 monthly units in both June and July.

However, considering its July month-on-month performance and the traditionally slower market period before the “Golden September and Silver October” peak sales season, QQ3 EV is unlikely to experience explosive growth in the near term.
Maintaining monthly sales above 10,000 units in August would already represent a solid result.
Chery QQ3 EV currently carries a limited-time price range of RMB 58,900-78,900 ($8,700-$11,600), placing it directly in the most competitive segment of A0-class hatchback EVs.
One of QQ3 EV’s key selling points is its front and rear independent suspension system, which is uncommon among similarly priced models and provides a more refined driving experience.
However, its range performance is only average for the segment, with 310km for the entry version and 420km for the top trim, making it difficult to position range as a major competitive advantage.
Top 7: Wuling Hongguang MINI EV — 10,458 units
Once a consistent top-three performer, Wuling Hongguang MINI EV has experienced a notable sales decline.
The model delivered 10,458 units in July, ranking seventh on the list and falling another 16.05% from June.
Sales trends show that Hongguang MINI EV peaked at 18,300 units in May before entering a downward trajectory.
It has now approached the 10,000-unit monthly threshold, and if the decline continues without stabilization, sales could fall into four-digit territory next month.

It is worth noting that Wuling launched the fifth-generation Hongguang MINI EV in March, with pricing starting at RMB 44,800 ($6,600), or RMB 42,800 ($6,300) after trade-in incentives.
Considering the overall upgrade package, the new generation still maintains certain competitiveness.
However, the market may believe that the Hongguang MINI EV has become less compelling after moving into the RMB 40,000 ($5,900) price range.
Upward, consumers can choose Wuling’s own Bingo series, which offers larger dimensions and longer range.
Downward, competitors such as Geely Panda provide lower-priced alternatives. MINI EV is increasingly caught in a difficult middle position.
Setting those external factors aside, the fifth-generation MINI EV itself remains a practical urban commuter vehicle.
The four-door-only version has a 3,268mm body length, ensuring basic practicality and cargo capacity for city driving scenarios.
Top 8: XPeng MONA M03 — 10,237 units
XPeng MONA M03 ranked eighth with 10,237 units sold in July, down 27.70% month on month. This represented the largest monthly decline among all Top 10 models.
One possible reason is the launch of the similarly positioned MONA L03 from the same brand, which is entering large-scale deliveries.
Given the stronger practicality of SUV body styles and the common consumer preference for newer products, MONA L03 may have diverted some potential customers who previously considered MONA M03.
After maintaining relatively stable sales in the previous two months, the sharp July decline came without obvious warning.

Therefore, it is difficult to attribute the drop simply to weaker product competitiveness or declining reputation.
The 2026 MONA M03 was launched on April 2, offering six variants priced between RMB 119,800 and RMB 151,800 ($17,600-$22,400).
The biggest upgrades include the introduction of the Turing chip and the expansion of the VLA XNGP intelligent driving system, allowing selected versions of the new M03 to access XPeng’s latest driver-assistance technologies.
However, as a yearly facelift rather than a full model change, the vehicle does not receive major improvements in interior space, dimensions, passenger comfort or driving experience.
In other words, customers who were previously considering MONA M03 may now be attracted by the newer, larger and better-equipped MONA L03. How the two models will differentiate their customer bases remains to be seen.
Top 9: BYD Seagull — 8,879 units
Ranking ninth was BYD Seagull. Starting from this position, monthly sales among the Top 10 models officially fell below the 10,000-unit threshold.
The updated BYD Seagull was officially launched in May, but its overall pricing remained largely unchanged compared with the previous model.
The current official price range stands at RMB 69,900-97,900 ($10,300-$14,400).

Compared with the previous “Smart Driving Edition,” the 2026 Seagull introduces LiDAR as an optional feature, meaning the model can now support BYD’s “God’s Eye B” intelligent driving system, including urban navigation-assisted driving functions.
However, it should be noted that only the mid-range “305 Freedom Edition” and the top-tier “405 Flying Edition” support the optional package.
Buyers must pay an additional RMB 12,000 ($1,800) to equip the LiDAR hardware and God’s Eye B driver-assistance system, creating a relatively high entry barrier.
In addition, while BYD Seagull has advantages in terms of compact dimensions and urban usability, its starting price of nearly RMB 70,000 ($10,300) only provides around 300km of pure-electric range.
Compared with other competitors, especially within the hatchback models appearing on this ranking, its value proposition is no longer particularly outstanding.
With the broader market environment cooling and competitors continuously launching refreshed products, BYD Seagull is clearly facing growing pressure.
Top 10: Arcfox Beta T1 — 8,628 units
The final model on the list is Arcfox Beta T1, which delivered 8,628 units in July, up 16.1% month on month. It recorded the strongest growth rate among all Top 10 models.
However, Arcfox Beta T1 had just undergone a model refresh.
The updated version officially launched and entered deliveries in June, making July its first full month of deliveries after the upgrade.

The current sales increase demonstrates Arcfox’s delivery capabilities and early order accumulation, but whether the momentum can continue will be more important going forward.
Arcfox Beta T1 is also positioned as an A0-class hatchback EV, with pricing starting at RMB 62,800 ($9,200).
The entry version offers 350km of range, while the top version reaches 450km, giving it a degree of competitiveness in terms of value.
Although classified as a “hatchback,” Arcfox Beta T1 features a 2,770mm wheelbase, which is already comparable with some A-segment vehicles.
Combined with its starting price slightly above RMB 60,000 ($8,800), the model has a clear advantage among similarly positioned products.
However, future sales growth may face constraints from Arcfox’s brand recognition. As BAIC’s new energy vehicle brand, Arcfox has yet to build strong consumer awareness.
The company has launched multiple product lines in the past, but only the Arcfox Kaola achieved relatively notable market recognition.
The previous Arcfox T1 also gained some exposure but failed to consistently remain among the Top 10 best-selling models.
If the refreshed Arcfox Beta T1 can sustain its current performance, it could help Arcfox further strengthen brand awareness and product acceptance.
The next challenge is whether Beta T1 can extend this wave of growth.
