Six of the world’s top 10 EV battery manufacturers by installed capacity are Chinese companies, with a combined 644.4 GWh and a 68.9% global market share.
On December 2, South Korean market research firm SNE Research released its report on global EV battery installation for January–October 2025.
Global installed capacity for electric-vehicle (EV, PHEV, HEV) batteries reached 933.5 GWh over the ten-month period, marking a 35.2% year-on-year increase from 690.7 GWh a year earlier.

Among the top 10 suppliers, six are Chinese firms, unchanged from the January–September ranking. Their combined 644.4 GWh represents 68.9% of the global market, up 2.9 percentage points year on year.
China’s CATL and BYD continued to lead the global field, jointly accounting for 55% of global share.
CATL held the No.1 position with 355.2 GWh installed from January to October, a 36.6% surge from 260 GWh in the same period last year.
Its global share rose to 38.1% from 37.6%, remaining the only supplier approaching a 40% market share and more than double that of second-ranked BYD.

BYD ranked second with 157.9 GWh, up 36.1% from 116 GWh a year earlier. Its market share was 16.9%, slightly above 16.8% last year but lower than 17.9% for January–September 2025.
Leveraging its vertically integrated model spanning batteries and vehicle production, BYD continues rapid international expansion.
In November alone, BYD’s overseas passenger vehicle and pickup sales surpassed 130,000 units, up 297% year on year and setting a record high.

Gotion High-tech climbed from seventh (ranking of Jan–Sept 2025) to fifth with 38.7 GWh installed capacity, taking a 4.1% share versus 3.1% last year.
CALB, EVE Energy and SVOLT ranked fourth, ninth and tenth, with 44.3 GWh, 24.6 GWh and 23.7 GWh respectively, corresponding to 4.7%, 2.6% and 2.5% market shares.
The remaining four positions in the global top 10 were claimed by Korean and Japanese suppliers: LG Energy Solution (86.5 GWh), SK On (37.7 GWh), Samsung SDI (25.1 GWh) and Panasonic (35.9 GWh).
