China’s November NEV Sales Hit 1.823M, Exports Surge 2.6x YoY

From January to November, China produced 14.907 million and sold 14.78 million new energy vehicles, up 31.4% and 31.2% year-on-year respectively.

Today, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers released the production and sales report for China’s automotive industry in November 2025.

The data shows that China’s passenger vehicle market produced and sold 3.144 million units and 3.037 million units respectively in November, representing month-on-month increases of 5% and 2.6%. From January to November, passenger vehicle production and sales reached 27.388 million units and 27.256 million units respectively, marking year-on-year growth of 12% and 11.5%.

In terms of exports, vehicle exports in November amounted to 624,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 48.7%. From January to November, passenger vehicle exports reached 5.397 million units, up 19.4% year-on-year.

Looking at the overall passenger vehicle market from January to November, sales of traditional fuel models across all segments—from A00 to C-class—showed varying degrees of decline. In contrast, the new energy passenger vehicle market saw growth across all segments, with sales currently concentrated in the A-class and B-class markets, reaching cumulative totals of 3.807 million units and 3.882 million units respectively.

Now, let’s examine the market performance in the new energy vehicle sector specifically.

In November, production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 1.88 million units and 1.823 million units respectively, reflecting year-on-year growth of 20% and 20.6%. New energy vehicle sales accounted for 53.2% of total new vehicle sales.

From January to November, production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 14.907 million units and 14.78 million units respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 31.4% and 31.2%. During this period, new energy vehicle sales accounted for 47.5% of total new vehicle sales.

In terms of specific markets, domestic sales of new energy vehicles in November reached 1.522 million units, up 4.3% month-on-month and 6.5% year-on-year. Among these, domestic sales of new energy passenger vehicles amounted to 1.425 million units, increasing by 3.5% month-on-month and 3.9% year-on-year.

From January to November, domestic sales of new energy vehicles reached 12.466 million units, a year-on-year increase of 23.2%. Among these, domestic sales of new energy passenger vehicles totaled 11.715 million units, up 21.3% year-on-year.

In overseas markets, exports of new energy vehicles in November reached 300,000 units, rising by 17.3% month-on-month and 2.6 times year-on-year. Among these, exports of new energy passenger vehicles amounted to 294,000 units, increasing by 17.7% month-on-month and 2.8 times year-on-year.

From January to November, exports of new energy vehicles reached 2.315 million units, doubling year-on-year. Among these, exports of new energy passenger vehicles totaled 2.238 million units, also doubling year-on-year.

Breaking down exports by energy type in November, exports of battery electric vehicles reached 177,000 units, up 6.5% month-on-month and double the year-ago figure. Exports of plug-in hybrid vehicles reached 124,000 units, increasing by 37.3% month-on-month and quadrupling year-on-year.

From January to November, exports of battery electric vehicles reached 1.473 million units, a year-on-year increase of 64.6%. Exports of plug-in hybrid vehicles reached 842,000 units, growing 2.4 times year-on-year.

The data shows that from January to November, the top fifteen automotive groups in terms of new energy vehicle sales collectively sold 14.072 million units, a year-on-year increase of 32.6%, accounting for 95.2% of total new energy vehicle sales. The top three automakers were BYD, Geely, and SAIC.

Sales Performance of Key Enterprises

Regarding export data from key enterprises, the report indicates that among the top ten vehicle exporters, nine companies achieved positive growth in exports.

In November, among the top ten vehicle exporters, Chery exported 137,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 30.3%, accounting for 18.8% of total exports. Compared with the same period last year, BYD showed the most significant export growth, with exports reaching 132,000 units, representing a 3.3-fold year-on-year increase.

From January to November, among the top ten vehicle exporters, Chery exported 1.199 million units, up 14.7% year-on-year, accounting for 18.9% of total exports. Compared with the same period last year, BYD again demonstrated the most notable export growth, with exports reaching 921,000 units, a 1.5-fold year-on-year increase.
