Leapmotor Tops Italy EV Market as February Registrations Exceed 5,000

According to the latest data from Dataforce, Leapmotor recorded 5,006 vehicle registrations in Italy in February, up 2,196% year-on-year and 347.7% month-on-month.

The result placed Leapmotor at the top of Italy’s battery electric vehicle market, with a share of 39.3%.

In the retail passenger EV segment, the company further led with a 51.4% market share, making it the fastest-growing automotive brand in the country.

In the first two months of the year, Leapmotor’s registrations in Italy reached 6,124 units, compared with 379 units in the same period of 2025, representing a 1,515.8% increase.

The Leapmotor T03 was a key driver of this performance, with 4,776 units registered in February. It ranked as the best-selling electric vehicle in Italy and fourth among all passenger car models.

Pricing has been a major factor. Leapmotor previously reduced the T03’s price by €3,000 to €15,900, and with an additional €11,000 in government subsidies, the effective retail price can fall to as low as €4,900.

Beyond entry-level offerings, Leapmotor is also expanding its mid-range lineup. The B10, launched in Europe in April last year, has already entered the top three in its segment.

Other Chinese brands are also increasing their presence in the Italian market. In January and February, BYD recorded 7,678 registrations, up 231.7% year-on-year.

SAIC Motor’s MG brand registered 9,895 units over the same period, up 12.1%, while Chery’s Omoda recorded 3,993 units, a 547.2% increase.

According to Leapmotor’s 2025 financial report, the company exported a total of 67,052 vehicles in 2025, ranking first among emerging EV makers.

As of February 2026, Leapmotor’s cumulative exports have exceeded 100,000 units.
