- Leapmotor surged to 11,637 Q1 registrations in Italy, up 1,927%, and led the EV market with 33.5% share.
- Leapmotor T03 dominated March with 5,022 sales, a 2,889% jump, becoming Italy’s best-selling EV and first Chinese model in overall top three.
- Aggressive pricing and Stellantis distribution cut T03 to €4,900 with subsidies, fueling rapid channel expansion across Europe.
According to the latest data from Dataforce, Leapmotor recorded 11,637 vehicle registrations in Italy in the first quarter, representing a year-on-year increase of 1,927.3%.
In March alone, registrations reached 5,513 units, up 2,827% year-on-year and 10% higher than February’s 5,006 units.

In Italy’s battery electric vehicle market, Leapmotor ranked first with a 33.5% market share.
Its share in the retail passenger vehicle channel was even higher at 44.6%, making it the fastest-growing automotive brand in the country.
As the brand’s core model, the Leapmotor T03 recorded 5,022 registrations in March, up 2,889.3% year-on-year, accounting for 91% of the brand’s monthly sales and significantly exceeding the second-ranked Tesla Model 3, which recorded 1,628 units.

This performance allowed the T03 to retain its position as the best-selling electric vehicle in Italy, while also lifting its overall market ranking from fourth place in the previous month to third, behind Stellantis models Fiat Panda and Jeep Avenger.
It became the first Chinese model to enter the top three in Italy’s overall vehicle rankings.
The T03’s strong performance is largely driven by a combination of pricing and distribution.
Supported by government subsidies and approximately €3,000 ($3,466) in manufacturer discounts, its starting price has been reduced to €4,900 ($5,660), placing it at the lower end of Europe’s A00-segment EV pricing spectrum.

At the same time, the model is distributed through Stellantis’ dealer network, enabling rapid local channel expansion—an important factor for new entrants in the European market.
On a quarterly basis, cumulative T03 sales reached 10,749 units, ranking fifth year-to-date.
Beyond entry-level products, the B10 secured the top position in the C-segment electric SUV category.
The model debuted at the IAA Mobility in Munich in September last year and has since begun deliveries across European markets including Italy, with a starting price of €29,900 ($34,500).

In addition to Leapmotor, other Chinese brands are also accelerating their presence in Italy. In the first quarter, BYD recorded 12,892 registrations, up 204.4% year-on-year.
SAIC’s MG brand recorded 15,875 registrations, up 2.9%, while Chery’s Omoda brand reached 6,221 units, marking a 527.8% increase.
