- China’s June power battery installations hit 76.5 GWh, up 31.5% year‑on‑year.

China’s Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA) released its June 2026 power battery monthly information.
Data showed that in June, China’s combined production of power batteries and energy storage batteries reached 206.0GWh, up 7.5% from the previous month and 59.5% year over year. Cumulative production from January to June reached 1,068.9GWh, up 53.3% year over year.
In terms of sales, total sales of power and energy storage batteries reached 196.0GWh in June, up 7.6% month over month and 49.1% year over year.

Of the total, power battery sales reached 133.4GWh, accounting for 68.1% of total sales, up 41.8% year over year. Energy storage battery sales reached 62.6GWh, accounting for 31.9% of total sales, up 67.5% year over year.
In the first half of the year, cumulative sales of power and energy storage batteries reached 979.4GWh, up 48.6% year over year. Power battery cumulative sales reached 661.3GWh, up 36.2% year over year, while energy storage battery cumulative sales reached 318.1GWh, up 83.4% year over year.
In terms of exports, total exports of power and energy storage batteries reached 36.2GWh in June, up 23.7% month over month and 48.7% year over year. Power battery exports reached 25.5GWh, while energy storage battery exports reached 10.7GWh.

In the first half of the year, cumulative exports of power and energy storage batteries reached 181.3GWh, up 42.5% year over year. Power battery cumulative exports reached 122.7GWh, up 50.3% year over year, while energy storage battery cumulative exports reached 58.6GWh, up 28.5% year over year.
In June, China’s NEV production and sales reached 1.598 million and 1.643 million units respectively, up 26% and 23.6% year over year. NEVs accounted for 58.5% of total new vehicle sales during the month.
The continued growth of NEVs directly drove demand for power battery installations. In June, domestic power battery installations reached 76.5GWh, up 6.4% month over month and 31.5% year over year.

By vehicle type, battery installations for pure electric passenger vehicles accounted for 57.5% of the total, while plug-in hybrid passenger vehicles accounted for 15%, together representing more than 70% of total installations.
By technology route, lithium iron phosphate (LFP) remained the absolute mainstay, with monthly installations reaching 63.7GWh, accounting for 83.3% of the total. Ternary battery installations reached 12.7GWh, accounting for 16.5%.
From January to June, cumulative domestic power battery installations reached 335.6GWh, up 12.0% year over year. LFP cumulative installations reached 272.0GWh, while ternary battery cumulative installations reached 63.4GWh.

In terms of enterprise concentration, a total of 35 battery companies supplied installations in June. CATL ranked first with 32.59GWh of installations, holding a 42.70% market share. BYD ranked second with 14.11GWh, holding an 18.49% market share. The two companies together accounted for more than 60% of the total.
CALB, Gotion High-tech and EVE Energy ranked third to fifth, with installations of 5.20GWh, 4.96GWh and 4.45GWh respectively. CALB overtook Gotion High-tech to secure the third position.
