On July 16, Geely Galaxy announced that cumulative sales of its all-electric Xingyuan, marketed overseas as the EX2, had surpassed 800,000 units.

The model reached the milestone in 664 days after launch, making it one of the fastest-growing new energy vehicle models in China’s market in recent years.

Geely Xingyuan hits 800,000 units sales milestone

The Xingyuan was launched in October 2024 as Geely Galaxy’s first A0-segment battery electric sedan, targeting urban family mobility.

In May this year, Geely introduced updated Xingyuan featuring upgrades in driving dynamics, electric powertrain, driver assistance and cockpit technologies, with a promotional starting price of RMB 61,800 ($9,116).

Sales data show that the Xingyuan has become one of the key growth drivers for the Geely Galaxy brand.

In June, Geely Galaxy sold 108,206 vehicles, up 20% year on year and 32% from May. The Xingyuan alone contributed 50,906 units, accounting for nearly half of the brand’s monthly sales.

During the first half of 2026, Xingyuan sales reached 249,418 units, up 21% year on year, making it China’s best-selling passenger vehicle across all powertrain categories during the period.

In the first quarter, the Xingyuan also ranked among the world’s top three best-selling new energy vehicles, becoming the only Chinese-branded model to enter the ranking.

Maintaining this level of momentum during the industry’s traditional seasonal slowdown suggests the model’s strong sales are being supported by sustained consumer demand rather than short-term promotional campaigns.

According to data from CPCA, wholesale sales of A0-segment battery electric vehicles reached 314,000 units in June 2026.

This accounts for 32% of China’s total BEV market, up nine percentage points from a year earlier, making it the country’s largest pure-electric vehicle segment.

Beyond China, Geely is accelerating the Xingyuan’s global rollout.

In July, the EX2 officially entered the Australian market, with deliveries beginning at a starting price of AUD 26,490.

Geely has also signed an agreement with an importer in Pakistan and plans to enter the market in Q3 2026 via CBU imports, initially introducing the EX5 and EX2 EVs.

In Malaysia, the overseas version of the Xingyuan is marketed through Proton under the name e.MAS 5.

During the first half of this year, the model sold 10,665 units in Malaysia, capturing a 33.6% share of the country’s BEV market and ranking as the nation’s best-selling BEV.

Driven by stronger-than-expected overseas demand, Geely has raised its annual export target for the second time this year.

The company initially targeted overseas sales of 640,000 vehicles for 2026 before raising the goal to 750,000 units. It now expects exports to exceed 900,000 vehicles this year.
