As of July 2026, Omoda & Jaecoo had delivered more than 8,100 vehicles so far this year, ranking fifth among automotive brands in Malaysia by sales.

Since entering the market, the brand has steadily expanded its presence with SUV models including the J7, J8 and J5, with the J5 emerging as its primary growth driver.

Launched in March, the Jaecoo J5 surpassed 2,500 cumulative deliveries within just four months, making it one of the brand’s fastest-growing models in Malaysia.

Building on the momentum of the gasoline-powered J5, Omoda & Jaecoo is introducing the J5 EV to further expand its new energy vehicle lineup.

According to the company, the Jaecoo J5 EV is expected to start at around RM125,000 ($30,540) and is positioned as a D-segment all-electric SUV.

New energy vehicles have become the brand’s fastest-growing business segment in Malaysia.

During the first half of 2026, Omoda & Jaecoo delivered around 2,300 NEVs, up 843% from 244 units a year earlier.

With the addition of the J5 EV, the brand now offers gasoline, plug-in hybrid and battery-electric powertrains.

Under the Omoda brand, the C9 is currently on sale, while the C7 and its plug-in hybrid variant are scheduled to launch in the future.

Malaysia’s new energy vehicle market has expanded rapidly in recent years, becoming one of the key destinations for Chinese automakers in Southeast Asia.

Brands including BYD, Geely and Leapmotor have all accelerated product launches and dealer network expansion in the country, intensifying competition.

Chris Tan, the brand’s country head, said Omoda & Jaecoo will continue expanding its product portfolio, accelerate the introduction of new energy vehicles, and further strengthen its after-sales service network.
