On July 27, XPeng unveiled its long-term Australia strategy, planning to launch five new models in the market within the next six months while expanding its sales and service network.
The company held a brand event in Melbourne, where it announced a broader product rollout for Australia.
The seven-seat flagship MPV XPeng X9 has opened for reservations, with a starting price of A$89,900 ($63.0K). The right-hand-drive version of MONA L03 also made its Australian debut.

Beyond the X9 and MONA L03, XPeng plans to introduce more models including the facelifted G6, the large SUV G9L and the L05 SUV, further expanding its local lineup.
XPeng’s flagship SUV GX has also been confirmed for the Australian market, although its launch timing remains undisclosed.
Under the plan, XPeng will build three flagship smart technology experience centers and 50 sales outlets across Australia over the next six months. The company will also develop localized parts supply, logistics and technical support systems to strengthen its long-term operations.

On the technology front, XPeng plans to bring its “One Car, Dual Power” strategy to Australia, offering both pure electric and extended-range powertrains through its self-developed range-extender technology. XPeng’s Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP) intelligent driving system is expected to enter the Australian market in 2027.
The Australia strategy upgrade marks XPeng’s first full showcase of its “Physical AI” ecosystem overseas, covering smart vehicles, the humanoid robot IRON and the flying car “Land Aircraft Carrier.”

Before restarting its Australia expansion, XPeng faced challenges with its local channel strategy.
In 2024, XPeng entered Australia through local partner TrueEV, which handled vehicle imports, distribution and retail operations. The company introduced models including the G6 through the partnership.
However, TrueEV later faced operational difficulties due to financial issues, limiting vehicle purchases and affecting some customer deliveries. This year, XPeng ended TrueEV’s exclusive distribution rights and restructured its Australia business model.
XPeng has now established a local Australian team, appointing Hidesuke Takesue, former head of Great Wall Motor Australia operations, as COO. The company has also shifted away from a single-agent model toward a “direct operation plus multi-dealer” structure, while advancing local parts supply, logistics and technical support.

Current sales data show XPeng delivered 40,126 vehicles globally in June, up 15.9% year on year. Second-quarter deliveries reached 103,295 units. Among its lineup, the GX delivered 6,739 units in June, while cumulative X9 deliveries surpassed 60K units.
