Leapmotor Enters Indonesia With B10, C10 as Local KD Production Kicks Off

Takeaways
  • Leapmotor begins local KD assembly in Indonesia with B10 and C10, deliveries starting August 2026.
  • Localized production with Indomobil’s PT National Assemblers creates dual Southeast Asia KD bases in Malaysia and Indonesia.
  • Leapmotor will use Stellantis Brand House networks and targets 50 outlets in Indonesia by end-2026.

On July 31, Leapmotor announced its official entry into the Indonesian market, unveiling its global strategic models, the B10 and C10, at the 2026 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS 2026).

During the exhibition, Leapmotor and Indonesian automotive group Indomobil announced the launch of localized KD (knockdown) assembly production, marking the company’s transition in Southeast Asia from vehicle exports to local manufacturing.

Localized production will be handled by PT National Assemblers, a subsidiary of Indomobil.

The Indonesia KD plant officially began operations in April 2026. Under the current plan, the first locally assembled B10 and C10 vehicles will be delivered to customers starting in August.

Both the B10 and C10 introduced in Indonesia are part of Leapmotor’s global product lineup.

According to the company, both models are built on Leapmotor’s in-house technology platform.

Core components, including the electric drive system, battery system, smart cockpit and electrical/electronic architecture, are all developed in-house, with proprietary technologies accounting for more than 65% of the vehicle’s total cost.

With the Indonesia KD facility now operational, Leapmotor has established dual KD manufacturing bases in Malaysia and Indonesia, becoming one of the first Chinese new energy vehicle brands to build a regional production network in Southeast Asia.

Compared with relying solely on exports, localized manufacturing is expected to improve supply chain efficiency while providing a production base for future expansion across ASEAN markets.

For sales and after-sales operations, Leapmotor will leverage the Stellantis Brand House model, sharing dealership and service networks with brands including Jeep and Citroën.

Local operations will be managed by PT Indomobil National Distributor, with plans to establish 50 sales and service outlets across Indonesia by the end of 2026.

The Indonesian market also represents another milestone in the ongoing global partnership between Leapmotor and Stellantis.

Since the two companies formed their strategic alliance, Leapmotor has continued to expand its international business.

The company now operates in more than 40 countries and regions worldwide, with over 2,000 sales outlets and cumulative deliveries exceeding 1.5 million vehicles.

Going forward, Leapmotor plans to introduce one new model annually in Indonesia, further expanding its product portfolio while strengthening its presence across Southeast Asia through localized manufacturing and an expanded retail network.
