XPeng E29 Officially Named P7: Next-Gen Intelligent Electric Coupe Debuts

He Xiaopeng, chairman and CEO of XPeng Motors, officially announced today that the upcoming new large-sized pure electric coupe (codename: E29) will be named XPeng P7.

The E29 Model

Since its initial delivery in May 2020, the XPeng P7 has served as the brand’s first truly intelligent electric vehicle, establishing XPeng’s reputation through this model.

As the creative force behind the P7 series, Rafik Ferrag designed the E29, stating that XPeng has “pushed boundaries by adopting innovative, original aesthetic designs that break free from traditional industry norms and outdated conventions.”

Early previews and official images reveal significant design evolution from the original P7, featuring sharp lines and a cyber-futuristic profile.

Key Design Features of the E29:

  • Front Design: A seamless full-width LED light strip with Y-shaped lighting elements flanking the lower bumper; an illuminated XPeng logo on the front hood and an aggressive front splitter.
  • Side Profile: A fastback silhouette with hidden door handles, frameless windows, and multi-spoke wheels for a sporty aesthetic. The A-pillar adopts an unconventional near-straight slope before sharply merging into the roofline.
  • Rear Design: A matching full-width light strip, an electric rear spoiler, and “XPeng” lettering on the tailgate.
The E29 Model

At the launch event of the P7+ last November, He Xiaopeng revealed the P7 series would develop “family-oriented” and “sporty” variants, suggesting the E29 will anchor the performance-focused market segment.

While official specifications remain undisclosed, industry speculation about the E29 suggests:

  • Approximately 5m length with 3m wheelbase
  • Expected starting price around 300,000 yuan
  • First model equipped with XPeng’s self-developed Turing AI chip
  • Vision-based driver assistance system
