On May 20th, BYD’s Formula Leopard brand announced that since the delivery of its first model, the Leopard 5, in November 2023, the cumulative delivery volume has exceeded 100,000 units within 18 months, becoming one of the top 3 new force brands to achieve this milestone in the shortest time.

The Leopard 5 is positioned as a hardcore off-road SUV and is the first model built on BYD’s DMO super hybrid off-road platform.

In 2024, Formula Leopard expanded its lineup with the launch of the mid-size Leopard 8 and the compact Titanium 3. The Leopard 8 continues to leverage the DMO platform, featuring a 2.0T high-output engine and advanced driver assistance systems, targeting the premium off-road segment. Meanwhile, the Titanium 3 offers a more affordable option for urban commuting and light off-road scenarios.

According to sales data, the Leopard 5 has sold 17,119 units so far this year, followed by 9,084 units of the Leopard 8 and 3,048 units of the Titanium 3—signaling that Formula Leopard’s product matrix is beginning to take shape.

On the organizational side, media reports indicate that Formula Leopard has recently undergone a restructuring, with its brand communications team now operating as a secondary unit under BYD Group’s main communications division. This shift may help strengthen coordination and brand alignment across the group.
From the debut of the Leopard 5 to the formation of a broader product lineup, Formula Leopard’s 100,000-unit milestone reflects not only strong technical underpinnings but also the operational strength of BYD’s system.
