FAW Toyota bZ5 to Launch June 10,Pre-Sales Priced from 130,000 Yuan

Recently, FAW Toyota officially announced the bZ5 will launch on June 10th. The new vehicle began pre-sales in April this year, offering two configuration versions priced between 130,000 and 160,000 yuan.

The Toyota bZ5 is built on Toyota’s e-TNGA pure electric architecture. It measures 4780mm long, 1866mm wide, and 1510mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2880mm, positioning it as a pure electric mid-size SUV.

Exterior-wise, the bZ5 retains the family design language on the front fascia. It features a closed front grille paired with a halo-style light bar and boomerang-shaped headlight clusters, giving it high visual distinctiveness. The profile showcases a fastback design, while the rear employs a full-width light strip, creating a visual echo with the front.

Inside, the front row is equipped with a narrow strip LCD instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, presenting a very clean aesthetic. Additionally, the car features a panoramic glass roof spanning 1.44 square meters. With its Low-E coating + Ag2 coated glass, the roof achieves 99.98% UV ray blockage and 99.3% infrared ray blockage. For features, the vehicle comes with a 10-speaker JBL sound system, dual subwoofers placed ahead of the center console, and an in-car fragrance system.

Regarding intelligent driving assistance, the car is equipped with the new Toyota Pilot system, jointly developed by Momenta5.0 urban assistance and TSS (Toyota Safety Sense). It enables over 30 functions, including city and highway navigation-assisted driving and parking assistance. For powertrain, it is expected to use a single electric motor with a peak power of 200kW. The battery is a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) unit supplied by BYD FinDreams Power, offering two range options: 550km and 630km.

The bZ5 is seen as a crucial step for FAW Toyota in accelerating its pure electric vehicle lineup. It also bears the expectation for joint-venture brands to break through in the intense price war.

Using its sibling model, the bZ3, as a reference for its performance in the Chinese market: upon launch, leveraging Toyota’s brand appeal and relatively competitive pricing, its monthly sales briefly exceeded 4,000 units. However, facing strong competition from new energy vehicle startups and domestic brands in terms of smart features and value-for-money, its sales saw significant fluctuations, recently hovering around 2,000 units per month.

The 150,000-200,000 yuan pure electric SUV segment where the bZ5 competes is a “fiercely competitive battlefield.” Facing siege from local brands like the BYD Song PLUS EV, Deepal S7, and Leapmotor C11, the bZ5’s pricing strategy has become even more critical.
