NIO’s June Battery Swap Report: 2.71 Million Swaps Conducted, Over 3,300 Swap Stations Deployed

By June, NIO Power had established 3,384 battery swap stations and 4,651 charging stations nationwide, with sustained growth in energy replenishment demand.

NIO Power released its June 2025 Power Replenishment Report, revealing that as of the end of June, the company had deployed 3,384 battery swap stations across 1,000 counties and districts in China, alongside 4,651 charging stations, further expanding its energy replenishment network into more cities and rural regions.

In June alone, NIO added 41 new swap stations across 10 cities, including Chongqing, Quanzhou, Beijing, and Shanghai, extending coverage to 30 additional county-level administrative regions and advancing toward its goal of achieving “county-level battery swap accessibility nationwide.” By the end of June, Beijing, Shanghai, Macau, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Tianjin, and Chongqing had all attained full county-level coverage, marking NIO’s completion of comprehensive network deployment in economically dynamic and densely populated provinces and municipalities.

From a utilization perspective, battery swapping remains NIO’s most distinctive competitive moat. In June, battery swap services reached a record 2.71 million swaps, marking a new single-month peak. Many users frequently leveraged swap stations during intercity travel, particularly relying on highway-based facilities to enable long-distance self-drive journeys.

NIO’s charging network is also demonstrating strong “public utility” characteristics. In June, the company deployed 268 new charging piles, delivering over 2.06 million charging sessions. Notably, more than 80% of the electricity supplied was consumed by non-NIO vehicles. For NIO, this open-access model not only enhances asset utilization rates but also boosts brand visibility among third-party EV owners.

Meanwhile, demand for flexible battery upgrades continued to grow, with 8,758 upgrade services completed in June. Many users opted for larger-capacity batteries during holidays like the Dragon Boat Festival as a strategy to alleviate range anxiety during peak travel periods.

This year, NIO’s strategic deployment of swap stations along China’s “Nine Vertical and Nine Horizontal” expressway networks has progressively connected major travel corridors across 14 urban agglomerations. Daily service volumes at highway swap stations have risen notably, providing empirical validation of battery swapping as an essential solution for “worry-free long-distance travel.”
