The new MG4 will offer a semi-solid-state battery version, with pricing to be announced in September and mass deliveries expected by the end of the year.
On August 5, SAIC MG officially launched the pre-sale of the all-new MG4, starting at ¥73,800 ($10,332), marking a significant price reduction compared to the previous generation. The vehicle is expected to hit the market in September and begin deliveries within the year.
The pre-sale prices for various MG4 versions are as follows:
- 437 Comfort Edition: ¥73,800 ($10,332).
- 437 Ease Edition: ¥81,800 ($11,452).
- 437 Freedom Edition: ¥90,800 ($12,712).
- 530 Smart Edition: ¥105,800 ($14,812).
- Semi-solid-state battery Edition: Price to be announced in September; mass delivery within the year.

As the first model under MG’s “All in new energy” strategy, the new MG4 not only sees a price overhaul but also receives a full upgrade in technical configurations.
The model retains its hatchback form with a youthful design language. The front end draws inspiration from the Cyberster concept, featuring an illuminated logo and arrow-shaped taillights to enhance visual identity. With dimensions of 4395×1842×1551mm and a wheelbase of 2750mm, its spatial performance aligns with A+ class standards.

In terms of power, the new MG4 uses a front-wheel-drive single motor layout delivering a maximum output of 120kW. It is equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries of 42.8kWh and 53.9kWh, offering CLTC driving ranges of 437km and 530km, respectively.
For recharging, the battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes under optimal conditions.
On the smart cockpit front, MG4 debuts a “smartphone-vehicle connectivity” system in collaboration with OPPO. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, it supports features such as navigation relay, voice control, and seamless smartphone unlocking. This system will be extended to other MG models in the future.

Notably, MG will also launch the semi-solid-state battery version. Though pricing has yet to be revealed, the company stated this version has completed batch validation and aims for scaled deliveries by year-end.
Initially launched in 2022 as the “MG Mulan,” the MG4 was positioned as a global model. With this round of upgrades, the new MG4 is expected to compete more directly in the sub-¥100,000 ($14,000) pure electric segment against rivals such as the BYD Dolphin, Volkswagen ID.3, and NIO Firefly.
