On the first day of the new car’s launch, the number of orders reached approximately 35,000 units, and surpassed 50,000 units three days later.
Sept 2 – Tesla officially announced the start of nationwide first-batch deliveries for the Model Y L.
The Model Y L premiered in China on Aug 19, priced from RMB 339,000. Roughly 35,000 orders were placed on launch day and surpassed 50,000 within three days.
By Aug 25, Tesla’s website had pushed the estimated delivery window from September to October, showing the entire next month’s production was sold out in just six days.

The Model Y L is a six-seat SUV designed exclusively for China. Compared with the standard Model Y, it is 179 mm longer overall, gains 150 mm in wheelbase, offers 751 km of CLTC range and consumes only 12.8 kWh per 100 km.
A 2+2+2 seating layout provides 2,539 L of cargo space with all seats up—enough for two 24-inch and one 20-inch suitcase.

Tesla’s launch of the Model Y L comes amid sales headwinds in the country.
Official data show Tesla delivered 384,100 vehicles globally in Q2 2025, down 13.5 % year-on-year, marking two consecutive quarters of decline. First-half sales in China totaled 263,400 units, a 5.4 % drop.
For Tesla, the Model Y L is more than a product extension—it is a critical move to stay competitive in the Chinese market.
