China NEV Weekly Sales Ranking (Week 35): Tesla Hits 12.5 K, Xiaomi 11.9 K, NIO Inc. 8.2 K

BYD remains firmly at the top of the sales rankings, Tesla rebounds, and emerging NEV brands generally continue an upward trend.

China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) market sales rankings for Week 35 of 2025 (August 25–31) have been released.

Overall, BYD maintained its leading position, while emerging NEV brands showed a collective recovery, with ranking structures shifting compared with the previous week. Tesla and Xiaomi saw notable increases.

BYD delivered 69,400 vehicles last week, slightly down 1.7% from 70,600 units in Week 34. Despite the modest dip, the company’s performance as the market leader remains solid.

Tesla’s deliveries rebounded to 12,500 units, up 21.4% week-on-week, resulting in a higher ranking.

Earlier today, Tesla China’s official Weibo account announced that the first batch of the new six-seat Model Y L has been delivered nationwide, which is expected to positively impact the coming weeks’ sales.

Among emerging NEV brands, Leapmotor delivered 13,860 vehicles last week, up 14.9% week-on-week, continuing to hold the top spot for weekly sales among new players.

In August, Leapmotor delivered a total of 57,066 vehicles, representing a year-on-year increase of over 88%, marking two consecutive months of exceeding 50,000 units. On August 20, the company announced that its cumulative deliveries had surpassed 900,000.

Notably, the new Leapmotor Lafa5 will debut alongside the B10 at the Munich Motor Show on September 8.

Xiaomi also showed strong performance, delivering 11,875 vehicles last week, a 45.1% week-on-week increase. Of these, the SU7 contributed 6,330 units and the YU7 5,540 units.

Data shows that Xiaomi Auto’s deliveries exceeded 30,000 units in both July and August, reaching a cumulative total of 330,000 vehicles by the end of August, just shy of its full-year target of 350,000.

Huawei-backed Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) delivered 11,737 vehicles last week, up 10.4% week-on-week. The AITO series remained the main driver with 10,800 units, accounting for over 90% of HIMA’s weekly sales.

Within the series, the AITO M8 contributed 5,940 units and the M9 2,740 units, while Stelato, MAEXTRO, and Luxeed contributed 340, 320, and 230 units, respectively. Notably, the Luxeed S7/R7 is undergoing a model refresh, with sales expected to rebound quickly.

Li Auto delivered 8,435 vehicles last week, up 10.5% week-on-week. As of August 31, 2025, Li Auto’s cumulative historical deliveries reached approximately 1.4 million units, with the annual target about 41% completed.

Founder Li Xiang recently shared on social media that the company aims to compete in the high-end pure electric segment, maintaining a monthly sales target of 18,000–20,000 units.

XPeng delivered 8,393 vehicles last week, largely flat compared to the previous week. Deliveries of its main models, the i6 and MEGA, remained stable.

XPeng recorded 37,709 deliveries in August, a new single-month record, bringing cumulative 2025 deliveries to 271,615 units, achieving 71.5% of its 380,000-unit annual target.

NIO Inc. delivered 8,163 vehicles last week, up 7.9% week-on-week. Deliveries by brand included ONVO with 3,673 units (L90 accounting for 2,150 units), NIO brand 2,986 units, and Firefly 1,504 units.

The ONVO L90 continues to attract market attention, surpassing 10,000 units in its first month of sales and becoming the fastest-selling model in NIO Inc.’s history to break the 10,000-unit milestone, positioning it as a key future driver for the company.

Overall, Week 35 shows continued diversification and growth in China’s NEV market.

With the advent of the “Golden September, Silver October” sales season, automakers are stepping up their volume campaigns, and competition in the coming weeks is expected to be more intense than in recent weeks.
