A new batch of new energy vehicles has arrived. Which one has the potential to become the next breakout hit?
On September 10, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) officially released the “399th Batch of Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturers and Products Announcement.”
This batch of new vehicle filings disclosed detailed parameters of a large number of highly anticipated upcoming models. We have compiled information on several popular new energy vehicles—let’s take a look.
Xpeng G7 EREV
The Xpeng G7 range-extended version is the brand’s second range-extended model to appear in the MIIT filings, following the Xpeng X9 range-extended edition.

Only one variant of the Xpeng G7 range-extended version has been declared this time. It measures 4918/1925/1655 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2890 mm and a curb weight of 2245/2255 kg. Compared to the pure electric version, the range-extended G7 is 26 mm longer and approximately 100 kg heavier.

In terms of exterior design, it retains the “Robot Face” front end of the pure electric G7 but with some adjustments: the segmented design of the full-width light bar has been replaced with a continuous one. Additionally, the rear features badges reading “G7 Power X” or “Power X Ultra” to distinguish the powertrain version.

For powertrain, the model is equipped with a 1.5T range extender supplied by Dong’an Power, with a maximum output of 110 kW. The drive motor delivers a peak power of 218 kW. The battery is a 55.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) unit supplied by EVE Energy.
It is worth noting that the Xpeng G7 will also feature Xpeng’s “Kunpeng Super Range Extension System,” supporting an 800V high-voltage platform and 5C ultra-fast charging technology, enabling an 80% charge in just 12 minutes.
With the pure electric Xpeng G7 priced between RMB 195,800 and 225,800, the range-extended version is expected to be priced even more competitively.
Leapmotor Lafa5
Just three days after its global debut at the 2025 Munich Motor Show, the Leapmotor Lafa5 has officially appeared in the MIIT filings.

The Leapmotor Lafa5 is positioned as a compact pure electric hatchback SUV. It measures 4430/1880/1520 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2735 mm and a curb weight of 1665/1715 kg. Its overall dimensions are similar to those of the Volkswagen Golf.
We have previously provided a detailed analysis of the Lafa5’s exterior design, so we won’t go into extensive detail here. Notable features include frameless doors, 19-inch sporty wheels, functional air diffusers, and an integrated rear spoiler, giving it a sharp and dynamic styling that distinguishes it from Leapmotor’s existing B-series models.

In terms of powertrain, the Lafa5 is equipped with a single motor delivering a maximum power of 160 kW and a top speed of 170 km/h. It is worth mentioning that Leapmotor has filed four variants of the Lafa5, differing mainly in battery cell suppliers, which include Gotion High-Tech, CALB, FinDreams Battery, and Zenlenergy.
Optional features include a front monocular camera, front binocular cameras, lidar, a high-mounted rear tailgate camera, and a panoramic glass roof (with or without lidar).

The Leapmotor Lafa5 is built on the LEAP 3.5 architecture and is the first global model developed through Leapmotor’s collaboration with Stellantis. Its size and exterior design reflect its targeting of European users’ preference for hot hatch-style vehicles.
According to the plan, the new model will be officially launched in Q4 2025, with deliveries starting in China in the first half of 2026, before gradually rolling out to global markets.
Voyah 9L
The Voyah 9L is positioned as Voyah’s flagship SUV, previously known internally by the codename “Taishan.”
Only one plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant of the Voyah 9L has been declared in this batch. It measures 5230/2025/1817 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 3120 mm and a curb weight of 2760/2850 kg.

In terms of exterior design, the MIIT filing images show two color options: a full golden body and a two-tone gray-over-black scheme. Paired with a multi-slat chrome grille and clean, squared-off lines, the overall appearance conveys a sense of sophistication and stability. Notably, the roof features a prominent lidar unit.

For powertrain, the model is equipped with a 1.5T plug-in hybrid system. The engine delivers a maximum power of 110 kW, while the front and rear electric motors provide peak power outputs of 150 kW and 230 kW, respectively. It uses a ternary lithium battery pack supplied by CATL and SVOLT, with a capacity ranging between 64.8–65.1 kWh. The all-electric CLTC range reaches up to 370 km, and the total CLTC comprehensive range is 1400 km.
Optional features include an electric side step, side radar, an “ADS” badge, and different styles of wheels.

Voyah officially describes the 9L as its first 800V intelligent ultra-hybrid Chinese luxury SUV. The model is built on the Tianyuan smart architecture and is expected to be equipped with Huawei’s latest ADS Ultra autonomous driving system, which uses four lidar units.
Testing and preparation for the “Taishan” are progressing in an orderly manner. The model is expected to make its official debut in the fourth quarter of this year.
iCar V27
As the first range-extended model in the iCAR family, the iCar V27 has officially appeared in the MIIT catalog.

The iCar V27 is positioned as a mid-to-large rugged SUV. Its dimensions are 4909 mm (with external storage box) or 5055 mm (with external spare tire) in length, 1976 mm in width, and 1855/1894 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2910 mm. Curb weight varies depending on configuration and battery cell supplier.
In terms of exterior design, the iCar V27 continues the retro-rugged yet tech-oriented style of the iCAR V series. It features a boxy shape paired with rounded LED daytime running lights. The side profile retains a large glass area with low window lines, improving off-road visibility. Additionally, the roof is equipped with a fighter jet-style double skylight, and the rear offers an optional external spare tire or storage box.

For powertrain, the iCar V27 is equipped with a Chery-developed 1.5T dedicated range-extender with an output of 115 kW. Its total range is expected to exceed 1000 km.
It is worth noting that the version filed this time is a non-lidar model. A higher-spec variant with lidar is expected later, supporting advanced driver-assistance features such as highway NOA and automated parking—typically found in models priced around RMB 300,000. Its off-road capabilities enhanced by autonomous driving technology are something to look forward to.

As the flagship model of the V series, the iCar V27 is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of this year or early 2026. Whether it becomes a hit will depend on its final pricing and competitive positioning.
Geely Galaxy Starship 7 EV
Previously, the Geely Galaxy Starship 7 was only available in EM-i plug-in hybrid form. The new pure electric version further expands the Geely Galaxy product lineup.
The Geely Galaxy Starship 7 EV measures 4750/1905/1680 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2755 mm and a curb weight of 1712/1750 kg. Compared to the EM-i version, the EV is 10 mm longer and 5 mm lower in height.

Exterior changes are minimal. The design continues the “Ripple Aesthetics” language of the hybrid version, with slight adjustments to the front bumper and a closed-off grille. The rear now features an “EV” badge. For powertrain, it uses a 160 kW motor supplied by Xingqu Power (Wuxi), and the battery is provided by Jiangsu Yaoning New Energy or SVOLT.

The Geely Galaxy Starship 7 EV is positioned as a compact SUV. Upon release, it will compete directly with popular models like the BYD Song Plus EV. Given that the hybrid version starts at RMB 99,800, the pure electric version is expected to be priced even more competitively.

In August alone, sales of the Starship 7 EM-i reached 8,332 units. It will be interesting to see whether the introduction of the pure electric version will further expand Geely’s share in the new energy SUV market.
