Expanding its presence in the range-extended market, XPeng sets an annual sales target of 400,000 vehicles.
According to recent media reports, XPeng will introduce a series of all-new range-extended plug-in hybrid vehicles (EREVs) within the year. In addition to the XPeng G01 and XPeng X9 EREV, both scheduled for release in Q4, XPeng is also planning several new mid- and entry-level models priced at RMB 150,000 ($20,500) and below, continuing the market positioning of its existing MONA series. Meanwhile, the MONA models already on sale, as well as the newly launched G7 series, will soon receive range-extended versions as well.
In November 2024, XPeng unveiled its Kunpeng Super Electric Platform, built on an 800V high-voltage architecture, featuring 5C ultra-fast charging batteries and hybrid silicon carbide electric drives. Vehicles based on this new range-extended platform—such as the G01 and X9 EREV—will achieve up to 430 km of pure electric range and a maximum combined range of 1,400 km. By adopting this advanced EREV system, XPeng aims to directly challenge domestic leaders in the segment, such as Li Auto and AITO.
XPeng MONA is a sub-brand launched in 2024, specifically targeting Gen Z consumers (born after 1995). Currently, the lineup includes only the MONA M03, which has delivered over 10,000 units per month for ten consecutive months, making it XPeng’s best-selling model. The M03 directly competes with the BYD Qin L EV and accounted for over 40% of XPeng’s sales in the first half of 2025.
Looking ahead, the MONA series is expected to expand with several new models in the second half of this year and into next year. Most of these will offer both pure electric and range-extended versions.
With this large-scale rollout of range-extended hybrids, XPeng will position itself to compete downmarket against BYD and Geely Galaxy, and upmarket against Li Auto and AITO, forming a two-pronged approach across China’s hybrid vehicle market.
According to the latest delivery data released by XPeng, the company delivered 34,611 vehicles in June 2025, marking its eighth consecutive month with over 30,000 deliveries and representing a 224% year-over-year increase. In Q2 2025, XPeng set another quarterly record with 103,181 vehicles delivered, while first-half deliveries reached 197,189 vehicles, already surpassing its full-year 2024 total deliveries.
The upcoming launch of these new EREV models signals XPeng’s continued investment in the cost-performance market segment, which may help the company maintain a competitive edge in the months ahead.
XPeng CEO He Xiaopeng has previously stated that the company’s goal is to achieve profitability in Q4 2025, with full-year deliveries expected to more than double compared to last year—setting a sales target of around 400,000 vehicles.
