Under the agreement, Hesai will serve as the company’s exclusive supplier, providing both long-range and short-range LiDAR units, with delivery expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
On September 15, Chinese LiDAR manufacturer Hesai Technology announced a new partnership with a leading U.S. robotaxi company, signing a contract worth over $40 million.

Under the agreement, Hesai will serve as the company’s exclusive supplier, delivering both long-range and short-range LiDAR products, with all units scheduled for delivery by the end of 2026.
According to Yole Group’s Global Automotive LiDAR Market Report 2025, Hesai held a 61% share of the Level 4 autonomous driving LiDAR market in 2024, ranking first worldwide for the fourth consecutive year and establishing itself as a key supplier to both robotaxi operators and automakers.

Currently, eight of the world’s top ten robotaxi companies have selected Hesai as their LiDAR supplier.
“The choice of leading global robotaxi firms reflects recognition of our technology and mass production capabilities,” said David Li, co-founder and CEO of Hesai.
He emphasized that as autonomous driving moves toward large-scale deployment, Hesai will continue to provide products that meet the highest safety standards, enabling the operation of large driverless fleets.

Hesai has also demonstrated strong financial momentum. In its second-quarter 2025 earnings report released on August 15, the company posted revenue of RMB 710 million ($99.7 million), up 53.9% year-on-year.
Its net profit exceeded RMB 40 million ($5.6 million), marking a better-than-expected GAAP profitability turnaround.

In Q2, Hesai delivered a total of 352,095 LiDAR units, a 306.9% year-on-year increase, sustaining its rapid growth trajectory. Deliveries of ADAS products alone reached 303,564 units, up 275.8%.
In the ADAS segment, LiDAR is increasingly becoming a standard safety feature. To date, Hesai has secured mass-production contracts with 24 domestic and international automakers, including BYD, Li Auto, Xiaomi, Geely, and GWM.
