The Leapmotor D19, priced around RMB 300,000 ($42,100), is set to enter the highly competitive large three-row SUV segment.
Leapmotor announced on Sept. 19 that its all-new flagship SUV, the D19, will make its global debut on Oct. 16.

Positioned as the most premium SUV in the company’s lineup to date, the D19 will also mark the first model in Leapmotor’s D series.
Company founder Zhu Jiangming disclosed late last year that Leapmotor plans to roll out more than 10 models across four major series — A, B, C, and D — within three years, spanning a price range of RMB 60,000–300,000 ($8,400–42,100).
The D series sits at the top end, squarely targeting the RMB 200,000–300,000 ($28,100–42,100) bracket, in direct competition with best-selling large SUVs such as the Li Auto L9 and Huawei-backed Aito M9.
In July, senior executive Cao Li emphasized that the D series is not positioned as a “half-price Li Auto,” but as Leapmotor’s first attempt at the RMB 300,000 tier of full-size SUVs, equipped with what it claims are industry-leading technologies.
According to available information, the D19 will feature a distinctive design with flush side windows, large chrome wheels paired with Michelin tires, and flagship-level detailing.

Measuring about 5.2 meters in length with a wheelbase of over 3 meters, the SUV will come in six- and seven-seat configurations.
It will be equipped with standard lidar across the lineup and powered by Qualcomm’s dual 8797 cockpit-driving integration chips, dedicated separately to infotainment and intelligent driving.
The powertrain portfolio will include both extended-range and pure electric versions. The range-extended variant will use a 1.5T engine, while the EV version will be based on an 800V high-voltage platform with both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options.
Auto bloggers recently spotted a prototype equipped with an 80 kWh battery pack, speculated to be a test unit for the extended-range model.

The full-size three-row SUV market is heating up in China, with models like the Li Auto L9, Aito M9, and ONVO L90 receiving strong market feedback. While demand is rising, the segment is also becoming increasingly crowded as more automakers enter the race.
Leapmotor has seen notable sales growth over the past two years. In 2025, the company has ranked first among China’s new EV startups for four consecutive months. In August alone, it delivered 57,066 vehicles, maintaining its lead in the segment.
Cao Li has previously stated that only when the A, B, C, and D series are fully in place will Leapmotor have the structural capability to target annual sales of 1 million units. The flagship D series is poised to be the cornerstone of this upward push.
