BYD sold 396,000 vehicles in September 2025, up 18.6% year-on-year and 6.1% month-on-month.
According to Chinese media reports, in 2026, BYD plans to trickle down numerous technologies to its Qin and Song series models priced around the RMB 100,000 ($14,000) level, including low-temperature fast-charging battery technology.
An insider revealed that the low-temperature fast-charging battery technology aims to develop markets in cold regions like Northeast and Northwest China. The new energy vehicle penetration rate in these areas is relatively low, representing untapped incremental potential for BYD.
NEV registration data from January to April this year shows that the NEV penetration rate in Jilin and Liaoning provinces was only around 35%. In provinces like Heilongjiang and Qinghai, the penetration rate was even lower, below 30%, far below the market average.

The low-temperature fast-charging battery technology can enable rapid charging in extremely cold environments through a self-heating method, maintaining a 5-minute recharge efficiency without degradation. The adoption of this technology will also bring longer pure electric range performance to the relevant models.
In addition to the low-temperature fast-charging technology, technologies like the DiPilot 300 (advanced driving assistance system) and DiSus-C will also be trickled down simultaneously. Currently, the RMB 100,000 ($14,000)-level BYD Qin L EV already features the DiSus-C. With the trickle-down of DiPilot 300 and DiSus-C, these two technologies may appear on more mass-market BYD models as early as next year.

Wang Chuanfu pointed out that the biggest obstacle to popularizing high-level assisted driving is the high cost. Currently, models equipped with ADAS in the automotive market often start at over RMB 200,000 ($28,060), meaning “ADAS almost equates to a high price,” which prevents the vast majority of people from having any access to assisted driving.
To address this, BYD announced the “ADAS for All Strategy” at its 2025 Intelligentization Strategy Launch Event. Wang Chuanfu stated that 2025 will become the first year of “ADAS for All,” and within the next 2-3 years, high-level assisted driving will become a standard necessity, just like seat belts and airbags.
Data shows that BYD’s sales in September alone reached 396,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 18.6% and a month-on-month increase of 6.1%. Cumulative sales from January to September 2025 reached 3.26 million vehicles.
