CATL plans to establish 1,000 Chocolate battery swap stations across 45 cities in China by the end of 2025.
On November 8th, the 800th CATL Chocolate Battery Swap station was officially inaugurated next to Xi’an’s Daming Palace, with new stations also commencing operations in five additional cities: Fuzhou, Mianyang, Zhuhai, Shenyang, and Shijiazhuang.
Officials stated that Xi’an plans to build 42 battery swap stations within this year, accumulating to a total of 68 stations by 2026.
On the day following the inauguration of the 800th station, JD.com, in collaboration with GAC Group and CATL, officially launched the first model supporting the Chocolate battery swap technology for the private passenger vehicle segment – the Aion UT Super.

The Aion UT Super offers two purchase options: a battery rental plan with a vehicle price of 49,900 yuan (with a monthly battery rental fee of 499 yuan), or a complete vehicle purchase price of 89,900 yuan. The new vehicle is equipped with CATL’s Chocolate battery, boasts a CLTC range of 500 km, and supports 99-second battery swapping for replenishment.
Other competitive features of the model include a 2750mm wheelbase built on an A-segment car platform, being the first to feature Huawei’s cloud-based infotainment system, and support for reversing sentry mode and 540-degree panoramic imaging, among others.

As the exclusive sales platform, JD Auto has provided subsidized benefits for the first 15,000 purchasers. Users opting for the battery rental purchase plan can enjoy a limited-time monthly battery rental fee of 399 yuan/month before 24:00 on December 8th.
Simultaneously, CATL announced that its new sodium-ion battery will also be first deployed in “Chocolate battery swap” models in 2026.
According to the plan, CATL aims to establish 1,000 Chocolate battery swap stations across 45 cities in China by the end of 2025. By 2026, it plans to have cumulatively deployed over 2,500 stations in approximately 120 cities across the country, with a long-term target of 30,000 stations.
