The revamped ATX, with over 4 million units in orders, is set to begin volume production deliveries in April 2026.
On November 24, Hesai Technology held its 2025 Technology Open Day event in Shanghai.
During the event, Dr. Kai Sun, Co-founder of Hesai, officially released the FMC500, a high-performance, dedicated smart system-on-chip (SoC) for LiDAR based on the RISC-V architecture. The company also launched the world’s exclusive “Photon Isolation” safety technology and the revamped 256-line ATX safety LiDAR.

The FMC500 utilizes a self-developed and controlled RISC-V architecture. It integrates an MCU, FPGA, and ADC into a single chip, making it the world’s first dedicated LiDAR master control chip with both functional safety and cybersecurity certifications fused on-chip.
Simultaneously, it is also the world’s first dedicated LiDAR master control chip with a built-in Intelligent Point cloud Engine (IPE). It integrates a 256-core waveform processing core, capable of intelligently filtering out environmental noise and adapting to complex weather conditions.

Hesai began developing Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) for LiDAR as early as 2017. By simplifying product architecture and optimizing design, it has enhanced performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Data shows that as of November 2025, Hesai has 16 self-developed chips certified to the AEC-Q automotive standard, with cumulative deliveries reaching 185 million units. Through its self-developed chip path, Hesai has developed product lines including the AT, ET, FT series, the XT and OT series, and the JT series.
The “Photon Isolation” safety technology released this time, according to the company, ensures that photons received by each laser channel do not interfere with each other. This technology is now fully integrated across Hesai’s main LiDAR models, including the ATX and ETX.

The revamped 256-line SiPM LiDAR ATX, equipped with the FMC500 chip, was officially unveiled at this event.
As background information, the ATX is a compact long-range LiDAR designed by Hesai to meet the safety requirements of L2 combined driving assistance systems for intelligent connected vehicles. It commenced mass production in Q1 2025 and has cumulative deliveries nearing 1 million units.
The flagship configuration of the revamped ATX features 256 lines, an optimal angular resolution of 0.08° x 0.05°, a detection range of up to 230 meters (@10% reflectivity), and a point rate of 3,840,000 points/second – double that of the previous generation product.

Currently, the revamped ATX has a order backlog exceeding 4 million units from several global leading automakers, with mass deliveries scheduled to begin in April 2026.
